Job Summary:

The Director of Individual Giving is a key member of the Development team leading efforts to raise the organization’s $5M+ Annual Fund and major gifts for other special initiatives and projects. The Director of Individual Giving will be the forefront of stewarding and growing key partnerships, as well as identifying new partners in alignment with Boys & Girls Clubs’ organizational goals with individual giving. This role is responsible for developing individual giving strategies and oversees the agency’s individual solicitations, and providing leadership and guidance to other team members. 

Responsibilities:

  • Actively manage a portfolio of 125-175 key donors and prospects who have strong capacity and affinity to support the Clubs.
  • Raise a minimum of $1M+ in unrestricted funding toward the Annual Fund goal with a focus on donor retention and growth.
  • Create, execute, and evaluate a personal fundraising plan for their portfolio and refresh annually.
  • Develop customized strategies and moves management plans for the top 25 donors in portfolio.
  • Create and update a “prospect list” of potential new individuals to engaging including people who may have a giving history with BGCGM but have not given in recent years.
  • Engage donors in meetings; with an expectation to hold 7+ donor meetings per week in person and/or via phone/video conference.
  • Complete pre-call planner in advance of meetings to plan strategy and capture notes and next steps in Raiser’s Edge NXT database. Director will document results/outcomes of these meetings on a weekly basis in BGCGM’s fundraising database, NXT.
  • Work collaboratively with Development Department staff throughout the donor cycle to understand donor giving history & interests.
  • Responsible for supporting BGCGM’s planned giving initiative, including but not limited to: the promotion of planned giving opportunities, sharing expertise and knowledge with Development team, and the identification, solicitation and cultivation of prospective and current planned giving donors. 
  • Collaborate with Director of Corporate Giving and BGCGM’s Trustee Council and Development Committee in support of fundraising activities, meeting preparation, etc. 
  • Work collaboratively with peers in the Development Department throughout the donor cycle to understand donor giving history & interests requesting research from the Data Services & Prospect Research Manager, preparing asks, proposals, and ensuring a comprehensive stewardship plan for individuals is completed. Helps to ensure all gifts are properly processed, acknowledged, and stewarded working with the Data Services & Prospect Research Manager and the Philanthropy Manager, Individual Giving, and the Annual Giving Manager.
  • Work collaboratively within the Department to develop and refine donor giving circle programs and ensure benefits for the donors in their portfolio are delivered.
  • Work with the Chief Development Officer to incorporate strategies using influencers from the Development Committee, Board of Trustees, and other volunteers.
  • Meet regularly with Director of Corporate Giving and Chief Development Officer to assess account plans, review strategies and track progress.
  • Work with senior leadership and the Development team, providing background and context on partnerships and community events that may influence solicitations and future conversations with area leaders and organizations.
  • Demonstrate and communicate BGCGM philosophy, objectives, standards, and programs through all methods available to members, their parents, and the general public. Provide quality program activities that are inclusive, welcoming, respectful, and responsive to the diversity of members, families, and community.
