Overview of Position: The Food Logistics Associate has an integral role in the management of food resources for The FOOD Pantry Serving Waukesha County. The position requires the use of warehouse equipment, including but not limited to forklifts, manual and powered pallet jacks. The Food Logistics Associate performs a wide variety of custodial and mid-level warehouse duties, in order to provide a clean, orderly and safe environment. This position works to ensure the safe handling of food during transport and distribution. This position works closely with other staff to monitor and manage the inventory, assisting with ordering and distribution of food.
Salary: Range of $18.00 – $20.00 per hour dependent on experience.
Schedule: Monday – 8:30 AM to 6:30 PM; Wednesday, Thursday and Friday – 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM; and Saturday – 8:30 AM – 12:30 PM. Until the staff person develops knowledge of the pantry operation, they will be assigned to work Monday from 8:30 AM to 6:30 PM and Tuesday-Friday from 8:30 AM-4:30 PM (two days will be adjusted by an hour to prevent overtime).
Summary of Agency: The FOOD Pantry Serving Waukesha County is a non-profit agency which provides free food and other groceries to low-income registrants residing in Waukesha County.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise Food Recovery efforts. Assist in inventory management, using inventory database track and record incoming and outgoing foods. Regularly communicate with Food Recovery Manager to monitor inventory.
- Ensure warehouses, sorting room, freezer, and coolers are clean and organized.
- Operate forklift to load and unload vehicles, and move pallets within the building for storage.
- Assist in coordination of donation, distribution, and disposal of food to other partnering agencies and businesses.
- Communicate with vendors regarding waste management and surplus materials.
- Set up, stock, and break down materials needed for Client Services Distribution.
- Assist during Client Services Distribution as needed.
- Help to ensure that adequate stock is available for distribution to clients.
- Provide periodic oversight and interaction with volunteers.
- Assist with all facilities maintenance responsibilities, outdoor and indoor, as defined to sustain a clean, safe, and orderly environment/appearance.
- Operate more advanced equipment (i.e., snow blower, electric pallet jack, forklift).

Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous work experience in field related to shipping or warehouse work is preferred.
- Willingness to learn how to drive forklift and use other warehouse equipment. Knowledge on how to drive a forklift is preferred.
- Able to perform physical labor involving the maintenance, and cleaning of buildings.
- Strong cultural competency and interpersonal relationship skills.
- Good critical thinking; able to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
- Highly developed organizational skills and able to manage multiple priorities.
- Must successfully complete and pass all background checks.
- Able to work flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, depending on program needs.
Basic Requirements
- Basic computer skills.
- Must possess a valid Wisconsin Driver’s license, state minimum auto insurance.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. repeatedly.
- Ability to work with diverse populations.
- Ability to work independently and cooperatively with staff, volunteers and clients in a culturally diverse environment.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule for occasional special events and meetings.
