General Purpose

The Technology Support Manager plays a critical role in helping Meta House staff leverage technology to perform their job duties. This role will strategically plan, implement, and maintain the organization’s technology infrastructure including computing and security hardware, phones, software, printers and other peripherals, servers and backup systems, and internet components. This position will work with the Director of Operations to determine the organization’s long-term needs, recommend improvements, and implement system changes. This position will also support, troubleshoot, and resolve daily technology issues.

Essential Functions of the Job

  • Develop, plan, and implement the overall strategic goals of Meta House’s technology and communications network systems
  • Recommend improvements to current and future network requirements to meet Meta House’s needs and schedule upgrades and repairs
  • Assure all server-based information is backed-up on a regular basis and manage maintenance, support, and upgrade of servers
  • Monitor, test, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware and software problems for end-users and workstations
  • Install and configure workstations and maintain functions for same through the installation of software releases, system upgrades, and/or patches
  • Support and maintain system account information including licenses, renewal information, and critical access information
  • Develop, implement, and maintain firewall technologies that secure the safety and privacy of agency information
  • Manage the agency’s phone systems
  • Establish and maintain agency policies and procedures related to technology usage and security
  • Assure that all of Meta House’s equipment, policies, and procedures are HIPAA compliant
  • Manage and monitor hardware inventory and make purchases in line with department budget
  • Train new staff on existing technology
  • Chair the agency’s Technology Committee

Marginal Functions of the Job

  • Training staff on new and existing technologies
  • Support other departments with procuring and implementing new software
  • Other duties as may be periodically assigned

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Associate or B.A. degree in technology or related field preferred
  • Minimum of 2-4 years of relevant experience required
  • Proficiency with Windows (server and workstation) operating systems and Microsoft Office suite programs including Microsoft 365, Active Directory and SharePoint in a hybrid environment
  • Thorough knowledge of personal computer hardware, including being able to remove and replace components
  • Familiarity with standard computer concepts, practices, and procedures
  • Familiarity with HIPAA regulations preferred

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to sit for prolonged periods
  • Able to stoop, kneel, and crawl to be able to get at equipment
  • Must be able to reach above shoulders
  • Occasionally lift up to 50 pounds of computer equipment
  • Must be able to use and manipulate small tools and parts used in computer repair and replacement
  • Must be able to move between facilities and negotiate stairs frequently
