The National Fluid Power Association (NFPA) is a trade association with approximately 300 member companies involved in the manufacture and distribution of hydraulic and pneumatic products and systems. It also serves as the Secretariat for ISO Technical Committee 131 and its U.S. Technical Advisory Group.

NFPA is seeking an experienced professional to manage the international effort that develops ISO standards relevant to the fluid power industry, and to promote their use by stakeholders across the supply chain.

Responsibilities include:

  • Serve as the staff administrator for ISO Technical Committee 131 and any of its subcommittees and working groups for which the United States has responsibility. In that capacity:
    • Organize and hold meetings for committees and working groups, providing project management support to chair and conveners.
    • Serve as staff liaison between ISO and TC 131 and its subcommittees and working group.
    • Maintain and update ISO LiveLink, including balloting, minutes and agendas.
    • Coordinate preparation of standards and other technical documents.
    • Ensure adherence with ISO directives and drafting rules.
    • Participate in ANSI/ISO forums.
    • Identify and recruit TAG members to become U.S. delegates to ISO TC 131.
  • Serve as the staff administrator for the U.S. Technical Advisory Group to provide U.S. input to the development of the international standards. In that capacity:
    • Organize, hold meetings, and provide project management support to chair and committees.
    • Serve as staff liaison between ISO and TAG.
    • Coordinate preparation of standards and other technical documents.
    • Maintain and update the priority mechanism for standards projects.
    • Ensure adherence with ISO directives and drafting rule.
    • Identify, recruit, and on-board new volunteers, with priority toward engagement of NFPA members.
  • Engage with industry professionals and NFPA staff members to promote the effective use of ISO standards and other market education objectives. In that capacity:
    • Regularly assess the technology landscape of the fluid power industry, and assist in the identification of R&D, market education, and standardization objectives designed to increase fluid power’s competitive position in the marketplace.
    • Identify and confirm speakers and guests for NFPA education programs and podcasts.

Successful candidates will be creative self-starters with the ability to produce results with tight timeframes. Qualified individuals will have the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
  • At least three years of experience in the fluid power industry and/or working with fluid power technology
  • At least three years of experience in standards development, preferably in the ISO environment
  • Proven communication, organizational and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to solve problems, working independently and as part of a team
  • High comfort level in “selling” and promoting NFPA’s programs
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, as well as WordPress and web-based applications.

Travel, including some international, is required.
