Job Purpose and Reporting Structure:

Under the supervision of the New Paths Program Manager, provide support to youth survivors of sexual violence and trafficking through advocacy and accompaniment (forensic exam, interviews with Milwaukee Police Department, District Attorney’s office, etc.) and offer support to them through the long term effects of trauma. Responsible for helping clients explore their options, know their rights, access needed community resources, and develop safety plans.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Meet in-person or by telephone with youth who have experienced violence and provide advocacy/accompaniment services.
  • Provide accompaniment, crisis intervention, and advocacy services, including service coordination as necessary.
  • Support youth to access available community resources and support connection to the community organization or to the appropriate Pathfinders services.
  • Listen, validate, and assess youth who have experienced violence and help them develop personal safety plans.
  • Educate youth on their rights and accompany clients to family court or legal proceedings as requested.
  • Work two on-call shifts per month from 4 pm to 12 am to provide in-person advocacy to commercially sexually exploited youth at local hospitals, police stations, or shelters.
  • Facilitate regular outreach and support groups and provide weekly street outreach with the Street Beat team.
  • Compile records and prepare reports, including case files and correspondence with youth and other providers involved. Develop, maintain, and submit necessary reports for program evaluation and statistical compilation.
  • Develop strong collaborative relationships within Pathfinders and the outside community. Develop knowledge about community services, agencies, and other individuals to support the client.
  • Other duties may be assigned.                    

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None required.


  • Education generally equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or human services, and/or life experiences and two years’ experience working with youth. Must possess working knowledge regarding the issues surrounding, and impact of, sexual violence, domestic violence, and sex trafficking on survivors.
  • Experience working with a diverse population of adolescents and young adults within a nonprofit setting is also required.
  • Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and be able to maintain privileged client information.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook computer programs is required.
  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule of morning, afternoon and evening hours as program operation dictates.
  • Must be able to work both independently and as part of a team within the parameters of the program, and to work in a changing environment where there is frequent exposure to stressful/crisis situations.
  • Must have a valid WI driver’s license, proof of auto insurance, and a reliable vehicle.

 Additional information:
