Position Title:  Payroll and Accounting Specialist

Reports to:  The Difference Principle Controller

The Payroll and Accounting Specialist will help support the Accounting team in our growing business.  We are looking for someone who is up for the challenge of streamlining systems and processes as we expand our offerings.  This role will take ownership of all payroll processing for multiple nonprofit entities as well as processing Accounts Payable and completing other Accounting tasks as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Performing semi-monthly payroll processing for US entities within our network
  • Performing bi-weekly and monthly payroll processing for clients
  • Entering new employees, terms, and payroll changes into Payroll system, ensuring accurate and timely updates to data
  • Processing off-cycle bonus payments as needed
  • Understanding of payroll taxes, benefits, garnishments, and other deductions
  • Remitting 401(k), HSA, and FSA reports and payments in a timely manner
  • Vouchering AP invoices in accounting system, ensuring proper approvals and support are obtained
  • Entering new vendors into the accounting and payment systems and ensuring that form W9 is completed for each new vendor
  • Processing of payroll reports as requested and building custom reports when needed
  • Assistance with year-end and one off audit requests for payroll and AP
  • Continuously and proactively reviewing systems and processes to streamline and add efficiencies
  • Other duties as assigned by Controller

Required Qualifications

To ensure success in this role, it is imperative the candidate possess the following experience and qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA or BS) from an accredited four-year college or university, preferably in Human Resources, Finance or Accounting, or equivalent related experience
  • Two to four years’ experience in an HR or Accounting function
  • Proficient in Excel and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with individuals at all levels of the company

Preferred Qualifications

In addition, the following qualifications are considered beneficial and important to the role:

  • Experience with Proliant payroll software a plus
  • Experience with Accounting and CRM systems
