Job Purpose:

We are seeking a competent, compassionate, and career-oriented professional to serve on Wellpoint’s diverse and dynamic team. The next Talent Acquisition and Retention Specialist – CFWB will be dedicated to the recruitment and retention of individuals working in the Child and Family Well Being (CFWB) division, which provides a variety of services designed to strengthen children and families in the community to address a variety of challenges using a family centered, trauma informed care approach.


  • Attracts and recruits top talent, which includes collaborating with CFWB hiring managers to develop a shared understanding of each role, drafting new or editing existing job descriptions, posting jobs in the ATS and to job boards/external sources, social media, etc., as well as sourcing for diverse and passive candidates.
  • Works to fill job requisitions within 45 days, consistent with the organization’s goal of reducing time to fill and number of openings, which includes identifying trends and working with leaders to overcome obstacles based on those trends.
  • Performs applicant screening activities to identify the most qualified candidates for the hiring managers, which may include conducting applicant screenings via phone or virtual meeting platforms.
  • Cultivates strong working relationships with hiring managers to understand their needs and provide technical support throughout the recruitment process, which includes coaching hiring managers on effective interview practices.
  • Participates on interview panels as appropriate.
  • Facilitates the job offer process which includes extending verbal offers, drafting offer letters, and initiating the onboarding process with the HR Team, which includes administering pre-employment background checks, driver’s checks, references, and schedules pre-employment health testing.
  • Develops aggressive retention strategies based on employee and leader feedback.
  • Builds trust and positive relationships with job applicants, new hires, hiring managers, and existing employees to foster collaboration and establish regular feedback loops.
  • Engages on onboarding activities, which may include serving as backup for the facilitation of the HR portion of new employee orientation.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


  • Associate’s Degree or higher degree required; in Human Resources, Administrative Professional, Human Services, Social Work or a closely related degree preferred; SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP and/or related professional designation is a plus.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience managing all phases of the recruitment cycle and hiring process.
  • Experience using applicant tracking systems (ATS), online/social media platforms, SMS/text applications, and online job boards for recruiting.
  • Experience recruiting diverse staffing pools of candidates with an emphasis on sourcing both passive candidates and graduating students from colleges and universities.
  • Ability to interact effectively with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
  • Must be honest, dependable and able to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to comply with federal, state and local employment laws and regulations; maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Proficient in the usage of computer software; demonstrate an understanding of computer file systems and computer software packages, e.g., applicant tracking systems, Microsoft Office, Excel, Outlook, Teams, ADP, Relias, etc.
  • Physical exam, drug screen, motor vehicle report, and background checks are required for this position.
