Position Summary

The Membership Recruitment Specialist is responsible for executing effective recruiting and conversion strategies to increase girl and adult membership. She/he is responsible for securing community partnerships and adult volunteer and girl participation through multiple pathways in order to implement Girl Scouting in our council jurisdiction.

Responsibilities:

  • Frequently engaged out in the community away from Girl Scouts of Wisconsin Southeast office generating leads resulting in membership to meet membership goals and objectives while reflecting the diversity of the area served.
  • Attains Girl Scouts of Wisconsin Southeast goals for lead generation, membership, and troop formation.  Converts leads resulting in membership and assists prospective volunteers with approval and onboarding process.
  • Designs and implements a comprehensive plan for girl and adult membership growth by researching market data, membership trends, and other relevant information.
  • Ability to create and lead a virtual or in person recruitment event that delivers an experience that ensures membership conversion.
  • Seeks opportunities and develops relationships with community organizations, corporations, schools and educators, and faith-based institutions to increase awareness of and participation in Girl Scouting.
  • Serves as a liaison between the council and prospective volunteers, answering daily questions and emails while maintaining positive awareness of Girl Scouts in the community.
  • Provides interpretation of GSUSA initiatives and national and local trends affecting girls throughout the council jurisdiction.
  • Maintains reporting documents as requested.
  • Ensure accuracy of data integrity of volunteer systems data base by following policies, protocols, and procedures.
  • Actively works with volunteers and other Girl Scouts of Wisconsin Southeast staff in recruitment of girls and key volunteer team members.
  • Attends local community activities, cultivates community connections, assists volunteers, and directs opportunities for raising awareness of and participation in Girl Scouts.
  • Maintains compliance with GSWISE and GSUSA policies as well as federal and state regulations while ensuring that the organizational goals are met.
  • Models behavior consistent with the Mission and purpose of Girl Scouting.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred. 
  • Minimum 1-3 years’ experience in membership recruitment or sales.
  • Highly organized, ability to multitask, handle pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Proficient in written and communications skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including some evenings and weekends required.
  • Experience and sensitivity in working with diverse people and volunteers.
  • Willingness to subscribe to Girl Scout philosophy program and enroll as a Girl Scout member which includes paying a nominal membership fee annually.
  • Technical computer skills in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook, customer relationship management systems, and social networking.
  • Successfully utilizes digital, virtual and technical tools with minimal instruction. Retains knowledge learned. Identifies and explains workarounds for customers without digital access.
  • Experience leading/teaching in a virtual environment preferred.
  • Willingness to drive a small box truck (Girl Scout recruiting vehicle).
  • Have daily access to dependable transportation, valid driver’s license, compliance with the council’s policy of automobile insurance limits, and a driving record that meets the requirements for coverage of the council’s business auto insurance carrier.
  • The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is occasionally required to sit and/or stand for long periods and operate office equipment manually. The employee must be able routinely lift 15 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds..
