Safe Families for Children surrounds families in crisis with caring, compassionate communities. Our mission is to keep children safe and families together by mobilizing a network of volunteers, churches, and community organizations to provide tangible support, encouragement, and hope.
Position Overview
The Program Manager – Greater Madison Area will provide leadership, coordination, and support for Safe Families’ programs across Dane and Sauk Counties. This role is part-time and is designed to strengthen program capacity, expand volunteer engagement, and increase organizational presence throughout the Greater Madison Area. The Program Manager will work closely with the Director and staff team to ensure consistent program growth and sustainable impact.
Key Responsibilities
Program Leadership & Oversight
- Support the Director in overseeing Safe Families operations in Dane & Sauk Counties.
- Ensure program practices are met, with a focus on increasing the number of families served.
- Assist with data tracking, reporting, and outcome measurement for program effectiveness.
Volunteer Engagement & Support
- Recruit, train, and coach volunteers to serve as Host Families, Family Coaches, and Resource Friends.
- Provide ongoing encouragement, resources, and communication to volunteers.
- Foster relationships with churches and community organizations to build the volunteer network.
Community Engagement & Fundraising Support
- Represent Safe Families at community events, partner meetings, and donor gatherings.
- Assist in donor cultivation, fundraising campaigns, and special events.
- Share program stories and impact with stakeholders to strengthen support.
Administrative & Operational Support
- Manage scheduling, communications, and follow-up for families.
- Support intake processes and help match families with volunteers.
- Collaborate with the Director to ensure policies and best practices are followed.
Qualifications
- Passion for Safe Families’ mission to keep children safe and families together.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Experience in leadership, social services, ministry, or nonprofit work preferred.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Flexible and adaptable in a dynamic, community-driven environment.
Hours & Compensation
- Part-Time (32 hours/week) with flexible scheduling.
- Reports to the Director, Greater Madison Area.
- Compensation commensurate with experience.
Location
Based in the Greater Madison Area (Serving Dane & Sauk Counties) with travel to host homes, community partners, churches, and events.
