Position Summary:  At the heart of every great organization is its people-and that’s where our Human Resources Generalist comes in. In this role, you’ll partner with the HR team to support faculty, staff, and administrators through daily HR operations and special projects. Reporting to the Senior Director of Human Resources, this position is hands-on and project-focused, offering the opportunity to work on meaningful HR projects of moderate complexity. The ideal candidate is great at building relationships, detail-oriented, adaptable, and committed to maintaining confidentiality while ensuring compliance with University policies and procedures.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Supports the day-to-day administration of systems and programs (e.g., Human Resource Information Systems, unemployment compensation, tuition reimbursement tracking, health and welfare benefits, compensation, performance management, compliance training and EEO/Diversity)
  • Assists with full cycle recruitment processes including but not limited to: recruiting, pre-employment screening, scheduling candidates for interviews, processing background checks, benefit overviews, job offers and employee onboarding
  • Maintains and audits the following items on a regular basis: personnel files, I-9’s, new hire/termination files, training records, time and attendance records, worker’s compensation and unemployment compensation
  • Enters faculty contracts including yearly agreements, adjuncts, summer hours, and overload contracts
  • Responsible for administration of employee FMLA processing
  • Responsible for administration of workers compensation processes and maintaining employer OSHA logs
  • Reviews (reconcile) invoices for health and life insurance
  • Coordination of new hire adjunct onboarding process
  • Processes motor vehicle record check and maintain the database
  • Responsible for the accurate and timely entry of all HR data transactions related to employment such as new hires, job changes, pay changes, employee personal info changes and separations
  • Creates and maintains a variety of reports or queries utilizing appropriate reporting tools. Develops and distributes adhoc and standard reports for management as needed or requested
  • Responsible for administration of the tuition remission process
  • Responsible for completing compensation analysis
  • Responsible for completing employment verifications, Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF), etc.
  • Maintains the Human Resources documents on the University’s website and bulletin boards
  • Assists with the coordination of special events to include but not limited to: recognition lunches, retirement parties, wellness initiatives, new employee orientations, open enrollment meetings etc.
  • Provides customer service and support for internal customers
  • Participates in Human Resources projects and initiatives
  • Performs clerical administration such as: phone calls, processing mail, scheduling and calendaring meetings, maintaining filing systems, and ordering supplies
  • Perform other duties, responsibilities, or special projects as assigned

 Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field required.
  • PHR or SHRM-CP certification STRONGLY desired
  • Three-five (3-5) years of experience in an administrative and customer service based support role or related area is required
  • Three-five (3-5) years of experience in a Human Resources support role is required
  • Prior experience with a human resource information system (HRIS) STRONGLY preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Mail Merge and Outlook
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and critical thinking skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills; ability to multitask and prioritize effectively
  • Ability to work independently and under minimal supervision
