Position Overview:

Arts @ Large is seeking an enthusiastic, creative, and motivated individual with a passion for learning the administrative components of non-profit management and event execution to join our team. This internship provides a unique opportunity for individuals seeking practical, hands-on experience in the arts nonprofit sector within the development, special events, and marketing departments. The Special Events Intern will learn by doing, working closely with our team and actively participating in daily operations to support our mission. This role is ideal for an emerging professional eager to make a meaningful impact while developing their skills in a collaborative, dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Development and Special Events – 80%
    1. Assist with implementing logistics for special events, Art vs. Food, and 25th Anniversary events.
    2. Assist with compiling event materials, including silent auction items, signage, and other collateral. 
    3. Outreach to various companies to solicit donations for our silent auction.
    4. Provide support to the development department post-event for mailing thank-you and acknowledgement letters, and silent auction item distribution.
    5. Support the Development department with silent auction gift data entry.
    6. Data entry support in GiveSmart/CRM.
    7. Support the Development department with administrative office tasks.
  • Marketing – 20%
    1. Contribute to and ensure brand consistency in all visual and written communications.
    2. Support the development of new ways to communicate the Arts @ Large mission.
    3. Develop digital content to support a variety of marketing initiatives.
    4. Assist in creating and curating content for newsletters, emails, and social media.
    5. Support website updates to keep content current and engaging.

Qualifications:

  • Pursuing a degree in Nonprofit Management, Communications, or a related field.
  • Passion for the arts and a commitment to Arts @ Large’s mission and Milwaukee’s creative community.
  • Strong professional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Outgoing personality and a willingness to learn.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and adept at managing projects effectively.
  • Self-motivated and adaptable, with the ability to prioritize tasks independently in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach, with the ability to work well with team members at all levels.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Thrives in a team-oriented environment.
  • Graphic Design and social media experience a plus.

Requirements:

  • Must be enrolled in or a recent graduate of a relevant undergraduate/Master’s program.
  • Available to commit to a part-time internship schedule Monday through Friday.
  • Competency in Google Workplace Suite.
  • Competency in social media platforms.
  • Experience with Canva is preferred.
  • Competency with data entry.
  • Experience with CRM is a plus.

Reports to: Development Manager & Marketing Specialist

Type: Paid Internship, Part-Time (Flexible hours – maximum 15 hours per week)  

Pay: Range is $10-13/hr. 

Timeframe: February 2 – June 30, 2026; Must be available on June 11th, 2026, to provide day-of Art vs. Food support
