POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Development Associate reports to the Development Director and works closely with the Executive Director, senior leadership, board of directors, and a passionate, creative theater production team. As one of two members of the Development Department, the Development Associate takes heart to support our theatre’s mission to celebrate the transformative power of the musical and theatrical arts, while performing work that raises the necessary funds to produce our excellent musical productions, take care of the beautiful Cabot Theatre, and foster a community of passionate theatre lovers across the generations.
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Donor Stewardship, Donation Processing, and Database Support
- Inform Annual Giving plans to inspire positive donor relationships
- Generate reports to inform campaign planning and donor relationship management
- Manage the donation processing using the Tessitura database with exceptional level of detail
- Manage database contact records (names, address, email, phone, relationships)
- Manage accounting reconciliation, pledge records and payment schedules
- Manage thank you process including tax letters, thank you cards, and volunteer phone calls
- Special Event Management
- Inform ideation of special events that will inspire supporters to donate and see the value of our programs.
- Manage invitation management and RSVP lists
- Manage sponsorship fulfillment (in collaboration with marketing and box office)
- Support day of run of shows, with attention to hosting welcome desk and registration
- Support vendors including preferred caters, entertainment, and community partners
- Support setup, tear down, and additional projects with volunteers
- Guest Services
- Provide administrative support to Executive Director and senior leadership, including scheduling, document preparation, and communication with external guests.
- Additional assignments as assigned, related to hospitality and guest experiences at our theatre.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:
The Development Associate reports to the Development Director and works closely with the Executive Director, the senior leadership team, the board of directors, and collaboratively with the production team. She/he/they may work with and at times supervise projects for volunteers.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Generally, the successful candidate should have:
➢ Experience in customer service, events/hospitality, and/or non-profit arts administration.
➢ Passion for the mission of Skylight Music Theatre to drive their purpose.
➢ Attention to detail and project management skills.
➢ Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
➢ Growth mindset, proactive sensibility, and ability to create projects/events from scratch.
➢ A strong sense of positivity and an ability to build relationships with multiple audiences is needed.
➢ Ability to adapt to current and new technologies including Tessitura database, Microsoft Office suite.
➢ Ability to prioritize and excel at many different tasks in a fast-paced environment is necessary.
Location: On-Site in Milwaukee, Wisconsin at the Broadway Theatre Center
Hours of Operation: Negotiable standard hours, with primary hours in the afternoons/evenings to support office staff and weekday night/weekend events
Minimum Experience: Entry-Level

Compensation: $38,000 – $42,000 annual salary
