Mommies Make It Better (MMIB) is a Milwaukee-based nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting mothers through healing, connection, mentorship, and community support. Founded by a former teen mother, MMIB works to create safe and supportive spaces where mothers can grow, feel seen, and access meaningful support without judgment.
Our mission is to help mothers rediscover a new way of living through a comprehensive approach that centers support, healing, and growth.
We are currently building our founding board and seeking passionate individuals who believe in strengthening families and communities.
Position Summary
MMIB is seeking committed and community-minded individuals to serve as volunteer board members. We are especially interested in people with experience or passion in:
- Fundraising and grant writing
- Marketing and communications
- Community outreach
- Nonprofit leadership
- Finance/accounting
Board members will help guide organizational growth, strengthen community partnerships, support fundraising efforts, and assist with strategic planning as MMIB expands its programming for mothers and families.
Responsibilities
- Attend monthly board meetings
- Support MMIB’s mission and growth
- Assist with fundraising and community engagement
- Participate in strategic discussions and planning
- Serve as an ambassador for MMIB in the community
- Support program development and outreach efforts
Qualifications
- Passion for supporting mothers and families
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Willingness to collaborate and contribute ideas
- Commitment to equity, compassion, and community support
- Prior nonprofit or leadership experience is appreciated but not required
