Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin is the leading local hunger-relief organization in the state with locations in Milwaukee and Appleton. JOB PURPOSE:
The CDL B Driver plays a critical role in Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin’s food distribution network by safely transporting donated food and product between donors, partner agencies, warehouses, and other designated locations. This position helps ensure the efficient movement of inventory, supports strong community partnerships, and contributes directly to the organization’s mission of solving hunger.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Safely operate CDL Class B vehicles, straight trucks, and other company-authorized vehicles in accordance with DOT regulations, company policies, and all applicable traffic laws.
- Pick up, transport, and deliver food and product to donors, partner agencies, warehouses, and other designated locations throughout the service area.
- Serve as a professional representative of Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin by building and maintaining positive relationships with donors, partners, volunteers, and community members.
- Conduct preliminary visual inspections of donated product and communicate any concerns regarding product condition, food safety, or suitability.
- Perform accurate counts and inspections of product during loading, unloading, and delivery activities to ensure inventory accuracy and proper documentation.
- Load, unload, secure, and transport product using forklifts, pallet jacks, electric pallet riders, and other material handling equipment.
- Maintain required documentation, including driver logs, trip records, vehicle inspections, fuel receipts, and other transportation-related records.
- Conduct pre-trip, post-trip, and daily vehicle inspections and promptly report maintenance, safety, or operational concerns to the Logistics Manager.
- Support warehouse operations as needed, including product movement, staging, inventory activities, and general warehouse support.
- Comply with all food safety, workplace safety, DOT, OSHA, and organizational policies and procedures.
- Ensure company vehicles, equipment, and cargo are properly secured and protected at all times.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

- Valid Class B CDL license for vehicles greater than 26,000 lbs. with air brakes. Excellent Motor Vehicle Record and successful DOT physical and drug screen.
- Maintain required certifications, licenses, and training necessary to perform the duties of the position.
- Obtain and maintain forklift certification within ten (10) days of hire.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

- Strong math aptitude and ability to complete trucking paperwork such as bill-of-lading manifest, etc.
- Solid knowledge of city, county and state road system.
- Ability to work safely following FAEW safety procedures.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including occasional early mornings, evenings, weekends, and extended hours to support donor pickups, product deliveries, special events, emergency response efforts, and other operational needs.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, bend, twist, climb, reach above shoulders, kneel, squat, sit, stand, talk and/or hear, and/or use hands to lift, handle, or touch objects, tools, or controls. The employee must have the ability to work in a cold/warm environments -10 to +80 degrees Fahrenheit. The employee must be able to lift and/or move a minimum of 50 pounds while moving inventory. The mental and physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an individual to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
Protective Clothing Required: Close-toed shoes, Warm clothing when working in cold environment.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Work is performed in a warehouse environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an individual encounter while performing the essential functions of this position.
