The Wisconsin Women’s Health Foundation (WWHF) is a mid-size nonprofit with a 25+ year history of improving health and well-being across Wisconsin. We are seeking a professional to join our Well Badger Resource Center team, a program of WWHF.

The Well Badger Resource Center is Wisconsin’s health information and referral service, helping people find and connect with health, social service, and government programs in their communities. Our team provides personalized support to people across Wisconsin through phone, text, email, chat, and other communication channels. Community members and professionals can also search the Well Badger Online Directory on their own to find resources and services across Wisconsin.

About the Position

The Specialist will primarily serve as an Information and Referral (I&R) Specialist, working directly with individuals and families to understand their needs, identify appropriate resources, and help them take the next step toward accessing services.

This is a people-centered role that combines problem-solving, resource knowledge, communication, and technology. Specialists listen carefully, ask thoughtful questions, research options, and provide information in a clear and respectful way. No two conversations are exactly alike, and the ability to stay curious and resourceful is essential.

The Specialist will also support Well Badger’s Resource Management team as needed, helping maintain the information in the Well Badger Online Directory. This may include verifying resource information, researching programs and services, reviewing listings for accuracy, and helping ensure that the information available to the public is accurate and up to date.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with pregnant and parenting individuals, children and youth with special healthcare needs, and/or low-income individuals and families, as well as an understanding of the barriers people may face when accessing health and social services.

  • Research health, social service, and community resources using the Well Badger Online Directory and other reliable sources.
  • Help individuals understand their options and take the next steps to access and connect with services.
  • Communicate with service providers as needed to gather information, clarify available services, and support effective referrals.
  • Conduct follow-up with individuals to check in on their progress, confirm they received the help they needed, and provide additional support or referrals when appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of interactions and referrals using Salesforce and other online systems.
  • Offer satisfaction surveys to people who use Well Badger services.
  • Participate in case discussions, case briefings, and team meetings to collaborate on complex or challenging situations and share information with colleagues.
  • Work collaboratively and flexibly with team members to ensure coverage during Well Badger’s hours of operation.

  • Provide feedback and recommendations to improve the quality and usefulness of Well Badger’s resource information.

Program, Organizational & Professional Engagement

  • Participate in internal staff meetings, supervisor check-ins, quality assurance activities, training, and professional development.
  • Stay informed about health and social service programs, community resources, and changes that may affect the people we serve.

  • Participate in network and partner meetings, conferences, and outreach events throughout the region as needed.
  • Assist with the development of program tools, materials, and other resources.
  • Provide feedback and recommendations that support program development and continuous quality improvement.
  • Contribute to special projects and other program needs as assigned.
