Job Title: Mission Director

Location: Tippecanoe Presbyterian Church – 125 W. Saveland Ave, Milwaukee, WI 53207

Start Date: November of 2026

Reports To: Pastor and Session (church leadership team)

About Tippecanoe Presbyterian Church

Tippecanoe (“Tippe”) is shaped by its identity as a Matthew 25 church, engaged in ministries that focus on social justice and equity. Through our Divine Intervention mission, we support those experiencing houselessness and food insecurity. Through the Arts and Science Literacy Camp mission, we provide enriched literacy programming to children in Milwaukee. Our faith community is invested in participating in solutions that create accessibility for all people. We encourage shared leadership models and collaborate with other faith communities and grassroots organizations who work alongside us in our ministries.

We are seeking a full-time Mission Director to join our team and direct our established “Divine Intervention” ministry, which is in need of evolving as we pivot from our winter warming room ministry to becoming a more flexible and mobile model of care. We encourage people with education and experience in the fields of social work, public health, or ministry to apply. We do not require this person to be religious or spiritual or to observe any faith tradition.

The Mission Director will be working alongside our full-time pastor and our full-time administrative assistant as a team. This person is expected to bring their own passions, skills, and interests to collaborate with our team in designing new approaches to serve the houseless (our guests) in our community while coordinating with other churches and organizations who are providing a variety of services to those in need. The Mission Director will develop a collaborative approach that addresses gaps in support and equips our volunteers to enact the plan. Our Divine Intervention ministry has included dedicated volunteers who remain passionate about serving our guests. As a daytime/weekend schedule is developed, the aim is to increase our volunteer base to ensure sustainability.

Job Summary

The Mission Director is part of the leadership team and is responsible for recruiting and training volunteers, coordinating the volunteer schedule, providing on call support, developing strategies and coordinating logistics that support our primary mission of serving our guests through our Divine Intervention ministry.

The Mission Director will drive the vision for daytime and weekend programming and further develop outreach efforts, determine needs that aren’t being met, and implement a coordinated effort to provide a respite setting and access to meals, hygiene products, and laundry.

Desired skills and talents:

This role requires good written and verbal communication skills, the ability to build rapport quickly, utilize conflict management skills, track myriad details and shifting priorities, manage teams, and recognize folks’ basic needs while acknowledging their emotions and behaviors using a framework that emphasizes a growth mindset.

Preferred: Experience working with people in crisis, supporting those coping with mental health or substance abuse issues, a background in case management, and knowledge of resources in Milwaukee.

Responsibilities

  • Build out the services our church will provide to our guests, and then lead and facilitate those services (i.e., Sunday respite space, community meal, takeaway foods, hygiene products, laundry days)
  • Collaborate with ministry partners serving this population
  • Develop systems for obtaining, storing, and distributing food and hygiene supplies
  • Update information about area resources for our guests
