Board Excellence for All-Volunteer Nonprofits
Maryland Nonprofits is offering “Board Excellence for All-Volunteer Nonprofits”:
“Maryland Nonprofits’ Board Excellence Workshop is an interactive, virtual program that covers the most important aspects of board operations. Participants will leave with clarity about the roles and responsibilities of the board of directors as a governing body and their roles of board members in an all-volunteer organization.
Participants will explore:
- Board conduct and how to develop a well-rounded, effective board of directors
- What it means to be legal and socially accountable
- Principles of sound financial oversight
- The board’s role in fundraising
- The role of the board as ’employer’
Duality of the board members role in an all-volunteer organization: governance & operations
This is an interactive program. Participants are encouraged to log into the Zoom meeting 10 minutes prior to the program to ensure a good connection and to greet each other. Participants will be encouraged to keep their cameras on for the duration of the program.
Class Materials: Each participant will receive Maryland Nonprofits’ Board Excellence Handbook (a $25 value), which will be shipped in the mail prior to the course date. To receive your book before the class starts, you must register by January 17. To change your mailing address, contact learning@mdnonprofit.org by this date. Books that must be shipped twice due to an incorrect address can be mailed to you for an additional fee of $30.
Who Should Attend: This Board Excellence is suitable for organizations who do not yet have employees, regardless of mission focus. This program is most appropriate for organizations without paid staff. To get the maximum benefit, we strongly encourage at least three board members register to participate. Up to 4 participants per organization may register.
If your nonprofit has employees, please register for the Board Excellence Workshop for Staffed Nonprofits being held on January 18, 2022.”
