Rooted Words: Reclaiming Purpose Through Storytelling and Social Capital
The Association of Fundraising Professionals Greater Madison Chapter is offering “Rooted Words: Reclaiming Purpose Through Storytelling and Social Capital”:
“Nonprofit fundraisers often carry the weight of mission-driven work—yet burnout, storytelling fatigue, and donor pressure can leave even the most passionate advocates feeling disconnected. In this interactive workshop led by poet and community strategist Araceli Esparza, participants will explore the deeper story behind their “why” through guided writing exercises rooted in metaphor, repetition, and reflection.
Together, we’ll uncover the power of narrative as a renewable source of motivation, connection, and strategy. Participants will also explore how to tap into social capital—the relationships, trust, and cultural insight already within their reach—to reinvigorate messaging, fundraising language, and personal mission statements.
Whether you’re looking to refresh your organization’s story, clarify your voice as a fundraiser, or reconnect to your community roots, this session will help you plant the seeds for a more sustainable, empowered, and values-aligned approach to your work.
Bring a notebook, your mission, and your heart—we’ll take it from there.”
