Job Summary:

The Bridges to School MKE Specialist supports the vision and mission of 4C For Children by planning, coordinating, facilitating, and connecting community resources, partners, and activities needed to achieve the identified outcomes of the Early Childhood Education and Community Schools Linkages Project (Bridges to School MKE). The Bridges to School MKE Specialist will work with Child Care Providers, community parent programs, and the Milwaukee Public Community Schools to provide paths from birth through kindergarten/1st grade that supports overall child development and family connections, enhances school readiness factors, and supports the transition from home to School settings. The Specialist will collaborate with the community to ensure all activity is delivered with a culturally reflective approach. This full-time position will have multiple evening and weekend responsibilities, with a potential nontraditional schedule with hours as early as 7 am or late as 8 pm. Final schedule to be determined based on designated partner school and community needs. The position will be responsible for reporting requirements. The position is part of a “special project” that is fully funded through MPS Early Childhood Dept. and City of Milwaukee Office of Early Childhood. The position is contracted through 2025, with annual review.

Qualifications and Skills:

Desired Requirements:

  • Understanding of Child Care practices and protocols.
  • Knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate practices.
  • Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal and editing skills with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Experience with writing reports for funding sources.
  • Familiarity within Milwaukee neighborhoods.
  • Knowledge of community resources for families and community support systems.
  • Experience should reflect increasing leadership responsibilities involving project management with collaboration skills.
  • Experience with facilitation, using outcomes-based program development, operation or evaluation.
  • Experience using data to identify priorities and inform decisions.
  • Possess the ability to coordinate multi-system activities to meet identified outcomes.
  • Language Skills: English-Spanish Bilingual preferred.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in relevant field preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience that is relevant to the Job Summary description.
  • Ability to work both as a team and independently.
  • Must possess ability to prioritize and coordinate program schedules to meet identified timelines and goals.
  • Experience in working with computerized software: Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel at minimum.
  • Ability to coordinate and facilitate meetings both in-person and through Zoom meetings.
  • Background working with children and families, within early education, public education or community-based work.
  • Experience and willingness to work in a diversified and multi-lingual environment.
  • Must satisfactorily pass Milwaukee Public School and other required background and reference checks.
  • A valid WI state driver’s license and access to an insured vehicle in good working condition.
