Coordinator of Neighborhood Ministries

POSITION SUMMARY:

The All Peoples Coordinator of Neighborhood Ministries (CNM) plays a crucial role in serving our community and congregation, especially through the Food Justice Ministries: Isaiah 55 Food Pantry, The Garden & Gathering Table.

The CNM facilitates collaboration and communication with and among All Peoples staff, volunteers, partner congregations, community agencies and organizations, and individuals in need.  This facilitates building relationships, ensuring respectful engagement, and making resources available. Communication occurs through many modes including but not limited to: in person conversation, meetings, phone calls, electronic communication, social media, sign boards, and flyers.

The CNM is responsible for maintaining appropriate documentation including related to donors, donations received, ministry participants, grants, and gratitude. The CNM will assist in further development of the current ministries, potential new ministries, and partnerships and donors outside the congregation.  The CNM should be flexible in developing the Coordinator role itself to keep it relevant. The CNM works closely with All Peoples staff on several annual events with the support of a diverse team of volunteers, as well as the weekly coordination of the Isaiah 55 Ministry food pantry and The Gathering Table, each serving 85-120 family units each week.

This part time position pays $22,800 per year for an average of 20 hours per week. Core hours include Mondays and Tuesdays, 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Wednesdays, 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., and occasional site visit meetings with partner ministries using the space (including St. Vincent de Paul and Human Concerns). In order to engage the congregation, the CNM is encouraged to participate in worship 6-8 times per year. Additional occasional weekend and evening hours may also be required for special events.

All Peoples Gathering Church is a worshiping community committed to “growing hope and justice by embodying Christ’s love in community,” through service to all peoples. Many days are fast paced, with “on the spot” decisions made and actions taken.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Isaiah 55 Ministry Includes:

  • Solicitation and receipt of donated foods for the pantry. Thanking donors.
  • Facilitating dignified shopping experiences for families in the pantry, including confirmation of registration.
  • Training and supervising pantry staff and volunteers.

The Gathering Table & Garden Includes:

  • Coordinating volunteer leaders/teams in food production and education
  • Managing food sourcing and rescue efforts with institutional, commercial, and farm partners
  • Supporting volunteer recruitment, training, and funding efforts

Annual and Special Events:

  • Helping with the collection and distribution of:
    • School supplies and winter coats and accessories to 200-300 children and youth
    • Thanksgiving and Christmas Food Baskets to 100+ families
  • Assisting in coordinating special congregational events as determined by Church Council, Staff and/or the congregation (may include retreats, meals, hospitality)
  • Planning, staffing, and participating in the annual Block Party with local partners.

Supportive Spiritual Care and Comfort:

  • Providing vital support to the Pastor in providing spiritual care and comfort for congregational and community members.
  • Encouraging community members, working with many individuals living in poverty as they navigate housing, family, AODA, domestic abuse, employment, and other issues.
  • Engaging in other occasional duties as assigned by the Pastor or Church Council.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience working with people living in poverty
  • Post high school education related to management or human services preferred
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of all members, guests, and clients
  • Ability to lift 45 pound boxes
  • Ability to occasionally attend Sunday worship, and other weekend and evening events
  • Proof of valid Driver’s License, Proof of Car Insurance, and a vehicle able to pick up and deliver 400-600 pounds of food
