Board Treasurer Position

Blossom’s mission: To support adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in building meaningful, connected lives by providing guidance, community experiences, and life-building opportunities beyond structured programming.
Many adults with IDD participate in valuable day programs that offer important structure, care, and support. However, these programs cannot meet every need. Life continues after the program day ends, and that is often where families feel the greatest uncertainty.
Blossom fills this part of the journey.
We offer guidance that is tailored to each individual and family. We connect people to existing community programs, social groups, and resources. We create experiences that build confidence and belonging. We walk with families as they navigate daily life and long-term transitions.
We support adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and the families and caregivers who support them. Our work is especially beneficial for individuals who:
- have recently exited high school, college, or transition services
- are seeking connection and community beyond structured programs
- attend a day program but need additional opportunities outside those hours
- want safe and supported ways to explore new experiences
- benefit from help navigating community resources and opportunities
- live with parents or caregivers but want meaningful experiences with their peers
General Duties
- Attend all board and committee meetings.
- Inform others about the organization to expand community knowledge of Blossom.
- Review agenda and supporting materials prior to board and committee meetings.
- Serve on committees and/or take on special assignments.
- Suggest possible nominees to the board who can make significant contributions to the work of the board and the organization.
Treasurer Duties
- Keep full and accurate records of receipts and disbursements, assets and liabilities in the books of the Corporation within an organizational folder. (*Will be working with the Finance and Development Director to have access to these pieces and if needed share with the board, but will not need to actualize the information)
- Deposit or cause to be deposited all monies or other valuables effects in the name of the Corporation in such depositories as shall be selected by the Board.
- Develop a budget in cooperation with the Executive Director, the bookkeeper, and/or accountant with oversight and final approval from the Budget and Finance Committee prior to final dissemination to the board at large. The Treasurer shall prepare, oversee and administer the yearly budget.
- Work with the accountant and Budget and Finance Committee to coordinate all federal, Wisconsin, and local tax filings and extensions of Blossom IDD.
- Ensure compliance with all external financial reporting requirements.
- Provide oversight of all financial matters related to the Corporation, including, but not limited to, payroll and corporate insurance.
- Perform all duties customary to that office and shall have knowledge of all corporate funds and securities.
Estimated Time Commitment
1-4 hours per month. You should expect to attend 1.5 hours of a board meeting (sometimes in person in Cedarburg, sometimes virtually) ten meetings a year, and 1 hour of a committee meeting (virtual) ten meetings a year. Reviewing documents and data may take up to an hour a month.
