Catholic Charities is seeking a dynamic individual for a new and exciting Director of Homeless Service opening. This position is responsible for the overall leadership, operations, budgets, and strategic plan for our homelessness programs.

Principal Accountabilities

Program Management

  • Provide strategic and operational leadership in evaluating current homeless services and developing plans for future services.
  • Ensure the effective provision and delivery of the agency’s homeless services through program planning, compliance with contract standards, and best practice standards.
  • Provide direct supervision and support to homeless services’ Directors and Managers; evaluating and ensuring training and development needs are met.
  • Work closely with Directors and Managers to ensure programs are adequately staffed and assist in hiring program staff, as needed.
  • As a member of the Leadership Team, convey administration’s expectations in carrying out the mission and vision of the organization, reflecting the Catholic Charities’ mission to express love through acts of charity and justice to program staff.

Program Development

  • Develop, review, assess, and strengthen policies and procedures related to homeless services.
  • Monitor and enhance program effectiveness; work with Executive Director of Programs to ensure solid outcome measurement reporting.
  • Oversee the collection of program data and preparation of reports to meet agency, state, county, and other regulatory requirements.

Fiscal Management/Fund Raising

  • Ensure cost effective service delivery; develop and monitor budgets for assigned programs and respond to budget variances as needed.
  • Work collaboratively with the Development department on funding requests/grants to ensure information is submitted in a timely and consistent manner.
  • Assist with tours of the facility for key stakeholders, donors, and potential donors.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and partners in the homeless services arena.

Marketing and Public Relations

  • Work directly with Communications and Marketing Director on strategies and opportunities to promote the programs within the community and to those receiving services.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in social work or related field; Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Minimum of ten years’ experience working within homeless services; Five years of supervisory experience is required.
  • Experience in quality improvement, program evaluation/measurement, and program development.
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal, decision-making, problem-solving, and communication (both verbal and written) skills.
  • Demonstrates sensitivity to the service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.
