Opportunity

This position is responsible for overall management of the financial business of a $7M agency – including budgeting and accounting. This position works directly with the Executive Director, Board of Directors, and Committee Members and is also involved in agency-level strategic planning and visioning. It oversees a full-time Financial Coordinator and a part-time Financial Manager. COA also uses a third-party accounting firm. This is a full-time, year-round position eligible for benefits.

Main Job Responsibilities

  • Maintain financial accounts in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Ensure effective internal financial controls and adequate cash flow 
  • Prepare, maintain, and report on internal/external financial records and analyses 
  • Oversee the annual budget cycle and audit
  • Provide financial data and support for grants
  • Support department leaders in understanding and managing their financials
  • Manage COA’s operations insurance polices
  • Manage vendor relations, including RFPs, for program and building management
  • Work with IT personnel on short-term and long-term projects

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance or related
  • Five+ years of high level accounting experience, preferably in a non-profit organization
  • At least three years of supervisory experience.
  • Oversight of a budget of at least $3 million per annum
  • Understanding of governmental regulations and reporting requirements
  • High proficiency in standard office software, especially Excel
  • Must be at least 23 years old with a valid driver’s license with a driving record and auto insurance meeting COA’s requirements
  • Leadership style that focuses on communication, coaching, and support but is able and willing to discipline appropriately as needed. 
  • Effective interpersonal skills to develop strong working relationships. Cultural competency. Respect for diversity of all types.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and administrative skills; extremely detail oriented
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
  • The physical requirements for this position are the ability to climb stairs and work with and in front of a computer for extended periods of time
