About the Job: 

The Donor Engagement & Events Manager plays a key role in managing all donor-facing events, strategic partnerships, and corporate sponsorship initiatives. This position is responsible for growing the mid-level donor portfolio through strategic outreach, outcome-driven meetings, and re-engagement of lapsed donors. The role also leads the planning and execution of donor-facing events that align with organizational priorities and build meaningful community partnerships. Through thoughtful stewardship and consistent follow-up, this position ensures donors feel valued, informed, and inspired to increase their support over time.

Mission Accountabilities:

Major Accountabilities:

1.) Manages the planning, coordination, and execution of donor-facing events, secures strategic partnerships aligned with each event’s goals, and provides post-event reporting with recommendations for improvement.

2.) Grows a portfolio of mid-level donors by securing meetings with clear, outcome-driven goals, cultivating new mid-level supporters, and re-engaging lapsed donors through consistent, personalized outreach.

3.) Implements and manages donor stewardship initiatives that strengthen relationships and promote long-term donor retention. Ensure timely and meaningful donor acknowledgments, recognition, and follow-up communications. Coordinate stewardship touchpoints connected to events and campaigns, and collaborate with the Development and Communications team to align donor follow-up.

General Responsibilities:

  • In the area of Events & Partnerships Management:
    • Manages the planning and execution of fundraising and stewardship events from concept through completion.
    • Collaborates with Communications Coordinator on event communications.
    • Secures strategic sponsors and partners for events, cultivating relationships that align with organizational goals and enhance the strategic goals of the organization.
    • Serves as the primary point of contact for event sponsors, ensuring clear communication, fulfillment of benefits, and ongoing continued sponsorships.
    • Coordinates vendors, venues, and staff to support seamless event operations.
    • Secures sponsorships, in-kind donations, and auction items aligned with event goals.
    • Co-Manages yearly campaigns, by coordinating planning efforts and securing sponsors and donations for each campaign initiative.
    • Oversees on-site event management and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
    • Ensures accurate tracking of event-related data, including sponsorships, attendance, and revenue.
    • Performs post-event stewardship, including sponsor recognition and donor acknowledgments.
  • In the area of Mid-level fundraising:
    • Actively manages and grows a portfolio of mid-level donors through strategic, personalized engagement.
    • Secures and conducts donor meetings with clear objectives and defined outcomes.
    • Identifies, cultivates, and solicits new mid-level donor prospects.
    • Re-engages lapsed or inactive mid-level donors through thoughtful outreach and relationship rebuilding.
    • Develops individualized donor strategies that align donor interests with organizational priorities.
    • Schedules and facilitates meetings between leadership and qualified mid-level donors to support transition into higher-level giving.
    • Creates meaningful touchpoints that strengthen long-term donor relationships.
    • Continuously grows the mid-level donor base through referrals, events, and prospecting efforts.
  • In the area of Donor Stewardship
    • Serves as a primary point of contact for mid-level donors, including regular outreach, follow-up, and engagement.
    • Proactively engages and re-engages donors, including outreach to supporters who have not donated in a period of time.
    • Coordinates meaningful donor touchpoints such as impact updates, personalized communications, and stewardship events.
    • Writes handwritten thank-you notes and cards to donors, ensuring a personal and authentic stewardship experience.
    • Ensures all donor acknowledgments, cards, and other stewardship communications are completed accurately and sent in a timely manner.
    • Analyzes donor engagement and stewardship efforts to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for improvement.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Requirements/Education/Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Ability to understand, demonstrate and support the mission, vision and core values of Community Smiles Dental.
  • Completion of high school degree or GED equivalent and 3-5 years of experience in event coordinating, development, fundraising, campaign administration or sales, with a focus on relationship management.
  • Demonstrated experience with successful event and sponsor coordination.
  • Prior experience in cultivating relationships and securing financial commitments from donors and corporate partners.
  • Ability to work or use Google Suite and/or Microsoft Office for email, calendar, file creation, sharing and storage.
  • Ability to work or use CRM systems, design systems, and donor contact management systems.

Preferred: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, nonprofit management, or a related field.
  • Prior experience in related, community-based or nonprofit fundraising and development.
  • Proficient in Google Office Suite, DonorPerfect or comparable CRM system, Adobe, and Constant Contact is preferred.

All Other Knowledge, Abilities, & Working Conditions

  • Ability to work with and frequently look at computer monitors throughout the day.
  • Ability to attend, set up, and take down events and other external events that may fall outside of normal business hours.
  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time.
  • Ability to work in close proximity with other team members.
  • Ability to use hands and wrists continuously to accomplish small motor skills.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or slide 10-30lbs at a time.
  • Ability to effectively respond to varying situations using logical reasoning and decision making throughout the day.
  •  Effective oral and written communication skills.
  •  Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and instruction.
  • Ability to use interpersonal skills including professionalism, logical reasoning and decision making when interacting with others.
  • Ability to contribute to the priorities and needs of the team.
  • Ability to follow instructions and office protocols.
  • Ability to meet the work hours and schedules of the position
