Reports to: Director of Housing
The Courage RCW (Resident Care Worker) Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the duties necessary for daily shift operation of the home/program are implemented in a way that reflects our mission and values. We are seeking a RCW Supervisor with strong leadership skills, who will model a trauma-informed approach, commit to making a positive impact in the lives of LGBTQ+ youth, and structure a balanced support for managed staff.

This is a full time, non-exempt position for 1st and 2nd shift availability, required weekend availability, and the possibility of some 3rd shifts. The RCW Supervisor is expected to work 4-5 scheduled shifts per week in the home according to the house’s needs and one on-call shift per week. (Total of 35-40 hours per week. This person is responsible for having overtime pre-approved by their supervisor.)
Essential Functions:
Resident Case Management-
- Monitor referrals through SYNC and other platforms and communicate with social workers appropriately and timely.
- Schedule and conduct resident interviews for placement.
- Schedule and complete resident intakes.
- Update resident treatment plans and goals within the first 90 days every 3 months per licensing.
- Build healthy relationships with youth to minimize crises, de-escalate crises when they occur, and ensure appropriate documentation of incident reports are completed within time allotted.
- Plan positive and effective group activities, both recreational and educational. Model and coach appropriate behavior in community settings.
- Interact with youth in a positive and therapeutic manner through the lens of trauma informed care.
- Facilitate and document residents’ medication administration in an accurate and timely manner along with monitoring the need for medication refills by med count every Monday.
- Provide transportation using the company vehicle as necessary to any appointments, activities and/or needs of residents in care.
- Collaborate closely with the resident’s case manager to become familiarized with the resident’s needs (safety plans, education, mental health, etc.) and participate in team meetings relevant to the resident’s progress and goals, as needed. (Care team, teacher conferences, IEP meetings, etc.)
House Management
- Model appropriate supervision and communication with youth at all times.
- Conduct resident house meetings biweekly.
- Observe, assess, and document resident activity per agency/program standards (shift logs, incident reports, crisis plans, etc.).
- Provide quality assurance for resident’s files through auditing to ensure compliance with contract, licensure, and funding source requirements.
- Maintain physical location to agency and licensing standards.
- Report any maintenance issues that are beyond your ability, to the Director of Housing.
- Maintain confidentiality within all written and verbal communications.
- Obtain and track 24 hours of continuing education training and complete all other training and professional duties as assigned by the Director of Housing.
- Act as Manager on Duty during on-call schedule to respond to crises in the house as necessary. (one week per month).
- Attend one Leadership Team Meeting the last wednesday of every month.
- Responsible for food inventory, menu planning and grocery order. To be kept within budget.
- Work with and provide feedback to the Director of Housing on the program’s performance in relation to the organization’s values and mission.
- Work with and communicate professionally with nonprofit stakeholders including donors, volunteers, and community partners.
Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree (in the fields of Social Work, Sociology, Special Education, Psychology, Counseling and Guidance or Criminal Justice) with two years of supervisory experience preferred. Must have a strong ability to work well with others, giving and receiving feedback in a professional manner. Must be capable of transporting youth and possess a valid driver’s license. Must be at least 21 years of age. First Aid and CPR training preferred. Background check, Physical and TB test required.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is subject to sitting, walking, and standing for prolonged periods; frequently pushes, pulls, grasps, kneels, crouches, or crawls. The employee frequently is required to use manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination when working with persons served and handling office, medical, or household equipment. The employee is subject to assist and lift up to 50 pounds with varying amounts of assistance on a recurring basis. The employee is required to have corrected vision and hearing within normal range and the ability to operate a motor vehicle. Must have the ability to perform CPR. Occupational exposure to blood, body fluids, infectious substances, including communicable diseases when performing personal care. Occasional exposure to cleaning agents and disinfectants. Residential work environment with a noise level of normal to loud. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to perform successfully the essential functions of this job. Compensation:
Hourly rate range: $22-$26. $150 a month reimbursement health stipend. PTO is accrued at the rate of 1.5 days/month or 16 days/year.
