The Courage House Resident Care Worker is responsible for implementing the daily schedule of activities while modeling healthy life skills. Resident Care Workers provide direct supervision to residents to ensure physical safety and program implementation. We are seeking resident care workers with strong interpersonal skills who are committed to making a positive impact in the lives of LGBTQ youth, who are in out of home care placements, for reasons including foster care, juvenile delinquency, and other CHIPS and JIPS orders. These children are facing complex trauma and mental health challenges.
This is a non-exempt, full or part-time position for 1st, 2nd, 3rd and/or weekend shifts
Essential Functions:
- Provide supervision of the youth living in Courage House, while implementing the daily schedule of activities.
- Provide positive and effective group educational and recreational activities, as determined by Program Manager. Model and coach appropriate behavior in community settings.
- Serve as a positive mentor for youth living in Courage House.
- Interact with youth in a positive and therapeutic manner according to policy, procedure, training, and agency values.
- Provide active supervision of youth at all times within assigned staffing ratios.
- Maintain and document regular contact with individuals/agencies outside of the program providing services for/associated with the youth.
- Observe, assess, and document youth activity per agency/program standards (shift logs, incident reports, behavior management logs, database, etc.).
- Maintain physical location to agency and licensing standards.
- Maintain confidentiality within all written and verbal communications
- Provide transportation as necessary to school and community activities.
- Participate in ongoing trainings and staff meetings.
- Build relationships with youth to minimize crises, de-escalate crises when they occur, and notify Program Manager of all pertinent events.
- Demonstrate and involve residents with activities of daily living, including cooking, cleaning, and other house maintenance as necessary.
- Administer and document medications according to licensing procedure.
Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree (in the fields of Social Work, Sociology, Special Education, Psychology, Counseling and Guidance or Criminal Justice) or two years experience preferred. Must be at least 21 years of age. First Aid and CPR training preferred. Capable of transporting youth and possession of a valid driver’s license preferred. Background check, Physical and TB test required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is subject to sitting, walking, and standing for prolonged periods; frequently pushes, pulls, grasps, kneels, crouches, or crawls. The employee frequently is required to use manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination when working with persons served and handling office, medical, or household equipment. The employee is subject to assist and lifts up to 50 pounds with varying amounts of assistance on a recurring basis. The employee is required to have corrected vision and hearing within normal range and the ability to operate a motor vehicle. Must have the ability to perform CPR. Occupational exposure to blood, body fluids, infectious substances, including communicable diseases when performing personal care. Occasional exposure to cleaning agents and disinfectants. Residential work environment with a noise level of normal to loud. The Courage House Supervisor is responsible for implementing the daily schedule of activities while modeling healthy life skills. The House Supervisor will primarily work second shift and/or weekends to work in coordination with the Program Manager to provide direct supervision to residents to ensure physical safety and program implementation. We are seeking a House Supervisor with strong leadership skills, who will model a trauma-informed approach, committed to making a positive impact in the lives of LGBTQ youth.

- Works with Program Manager to monitor environmental needs, such as conditions of the home furniture, play materials, cleaning supplies, bedding, and personal items.
- Completes all other trainings and professional duties as assigned by Program Manager.
Qualifications
