CLIENT/DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW:
The American Academy for Cerebral Palsy and Developmental Medicine (AACPDM) is an Academy of over 1,100 health professionals dedicated to advancing the health and well-being of all individuals with cerebral palsy and other childhood-onset disabilities. AACPDM is like no other professional society! The “teamwork” mindset of our members solidifies a worldwide network that provides the most effective outcomes for patients. We are pediatricians, neurologists, surgeons, rehabilitators, therapists, nurses, special educators, engineers, and scientists.
The American Clinical Neurophysiology Society (ACNS) is the major professional organization in the United States devoted to the establishment and maintenance of standards of professional excellence in clinical neurophysiology in the practice of neurology, neurosurgery, and psychiatry. The organization’s main activities include an Annual Meeting, educational courses, as well as development of technical standards and guidelines related to clinical neurophysiology procedures.
JOB OVERVIEW:
Taking direction from the Executive Directors, oversee one-time and enduring projects from start to finish, meeting the goals of client website and social media initiatives.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES (minimum of 37.5 hours/week):
AACPDM
- Work with the AACPDM Board Appointed “Web-Master” on website needs and updates. Regularly meet to discuss areas to highlight or sunset from the website. Communicate with “Web-Master” on duties and timetables.
- Manage the AACPDM website, including organizing content and updating the site as necessary.
- Monitor monthly website statistics and develop statistical reports to share with the Executive Director.
- Review overall functionality of the website and provide guidance and recommendations regarding content and design to help guide the input from the committees.
- Work with the AACPDM standing committees and web services to monitor and update existing and new materials as they become available. Serve as a conduit to reaching the committees and provide guidelines and timetables for material submissions to be included in the website.
- Work with the Communications Committee to ensure social media presence is being utilized to post and recycle certain information shared on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Provide occasional support to the Communications Committee regarding social media platforms and posting.
- Develop a marketing campaign to inform the membership and external audiences regarding the updated website and materials.
- Work with appropriate committees to develop and market news on board appointments, committee tasks, or other important developments, with the oversight of the Executive Director.
- Serve as a liaison to committees and task forces to implement tasks and actions regarding the website updates in a timely manner. Regularly attend committee meetings as requested by the Executive Director to best implement the actions.
- Develop a timeline and documentation method for updating website changes in future years. This will include regular staff outreach to the committees, recommendations on sunset rules for information, patterns regarding when to post updated material on various sections of the website.
- Work as part of the AACPDM team in the overall management of the association.
ACNS
- Develop and update content for the ACNS website, optimizing website appearance and functionality;
- Develop and disseminate regular News Brief emails to keep ACNS members informed of Society activities;
- Develop and maintain a social media presence to increase engagement of ACNS members and promote the activities of the Society;
- Develop and maintain a process for integrated internal organization of Society communications.
- Support the establishment and oversight of a members-only discussion forum; and
- Work as part of the ACNS team in the overall management of the Society.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree. At least two years of experience in communications, project management or related fields.
TRAVEL REQUIRED:
Approximately two weeks per year, one at each society’s Annual Meeting (February/March and September/October). May include evening and weekend work.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This is a full-time position located in our office in downtown Milwaukee, WI and a minimum of two days’ onsite in the office (including Wednesday as an all-staff-in-office day) are a requirement of the role.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: (lifting, packaging, etc.)
Ability to lift 30 lbs and move from place to place during the meetings.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Early morning, evening and weekend work may be required to meet client needs.
Attendance at the annual meeting is required.
Approximately two regular evening conference calls per month are required.
