ASSOCIATION: American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology (AAAAI)

REPORTS TO: Executive Director

DIRECT REPORTS: Development Manager, Program Manager (2)

STATUS: Exempt (Minimum of 37.5 hours per week)

GENERAL SUMMARY

Working with a team of staff and volunteers, provide leadership and strategic oversight to the AAAAI programs related to Allergy/Immunology (A/I) research, training future allergist/immunologists and supporting academic A/I programs. This is accomplished by supporting the Research &Training Division of the AAAAI Board of Directors and AAAAI Foundation.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES (Minimum of 37.5 hours per week):

  • Serve as liaison to the Research & Training Division of the AAAAI Board of Directors and the AAAAI Foundation, assisting in the identification of and directing staff functions to ensure achievement of Division and Foundation goals and objectives, evaluate program outcomes and providing direct administrative support with regard to meetings, conference calls, minutes, and reports to the Board.
  • Develop, oversee and implement a comprehensive fundraising plan with AAAAI Foundation volunteer leadership and staff. This includes special events, identification of donors and maintain excellent donor stewardship processes
  • Prepare annual proposed budgets as required, project and sponsorship proposals and retain budgetary responsibility for their implementation and completion.
  • Provide direction and leadership of directly supervised team members, including performance evaluations of with rewards and disciplinary actions as needed.
  • Attend all AAAAI Executive Committee conference calls, all meetings of the AAAAI Board of Directors and facilitate reports for these meetings as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

AMOUNT OF TRAVEL REQUIRED

Approximately 3-4 weeks per year, occasional evening and weekend work required. Attendance at the Annual Meeting is required for this position. Exceptions are made due to physician-approved circumstances, based on AAAAI/EDI policy or supervisor discretion.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Experience in association/foundation governance, corporate funding, grant writing and special event management.
  • Knowledge of fundraising best practices, proven success in donor stewardship, retention and donor data analysis.
  • Very strong interpersonal skills, management skills, public speaking and presentation skills, organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Excel and knowledge of donor database structures a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimal lifting required.

*This position is located in downtown Milwaukee, WI and a minimum of two days onsite in the office (including Wednesday as an all-staff-in-office day) are a requirement of the role.
