Fathers Making Progress (FMP) is a movement serving families primarily through creating spaces of learning, support and growth for fathers. As our organization capacity increases, FMP has made the commitment to bring in the best team of competent, capable, dynamic and empathetic individuals to fuel this charge.

The Community Impact Manager oversees our growing Community Organizing/Mobilization Program and is a part of the program management leadership team. The position is responsible for leading/supervising a team  delivering high-quality community organizing, fatherhood outreach, canvassing, tracking and relationship building that improves the connection and recruitment of the residents of the neighborhoods we serve. The effectiveness of the interventions will be measured by the ability to build relationships and inroads with families we serve. This position will work with target populations primarily on the Northside of Milwaukee.

Responsibilities

  1. Manage/Train teams including mobilization captains, mobilizers and volunteers.
  2. Build a canvassing plan that will assure that all areas of the target community is covered over the course of the season.
  3. Assists developing FMP Community Mobilization Priorities.
  4. Participate in on site/off-site program trainings as needed.
  5. Work in a shared leadership role with our community health worker team.
  6. Takes an active role in the planning and execution of FMP events and service days.
  7. Assists in data system development and with tracking/relationship building with neighbors.
  8. Facilitates and leads teams to participate in neighborhood improvement events (clean ups, etc.)
  9. Develop and maintain accurate and current programmatic documentation.
  10. Maintains positive public relations and encourages community integration.
  11. Represents FMP on organizing and mobilizing committees; Attends community meetings.
  12. Coordinates weekly team agendas, trainings and schedules
  13. Meets established deadlines.
  14. Attends and participates in training, staff meetings and other professional development activities.
  15. Takes necessary action in emergency situations in accordance with organization’s policies and procedures. Accurately report situation(s) to the proper personnel.
  16. Coordinates mobilization operation to ensure assigned outcomes are accomplished according to budgets, timelines, and other specifications.
  17. Responsible for formal peer coaching of members of mobilizer team and potentially other FMP Alumni.
  18. Model effective Community Organizing, mobilization, and case management strategies.
  19. Regularly communicates with staff/participants to ensure program quality and troubleshoot any mobilization program issues.
  20. Provides customers, partners and/or clients regular program updates.
  21. Regularly communicates with Executive President regarding programming and mobilization status, potential adjustments and any problems or potential problems.
  22. Track data, program outcomes and compile reports.
  23. Assist with planning FMP programming and events as needed.
  24. Other duties, responsibilities and projects as needed/assigned.
  25. Follows organization’s policies and procedures.
  26. Operate as a positive role model for the community, including participants served and staff.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Observe a round of classes within 3 months of hire.
  • Ability/openness to learn new techniques and carry out programming according to established standards.
  • Excellent interpersonal (social) skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Willingness to transport any and all materials to sites as needed.
  • Physically in condition to be able to walk 2-4 miles per day
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable/insured transportation.
  • Associate Degree in related field.
  • A minimum of one year experience community organizing.
  • A minimum of two years experience with effectively managing a team.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field desired.
  • At least three years of related program/team management experience desired.
  • At least three years of related program experience

  • Executive President

Position supervises:

  • Community Mobilizing Captains, Community Mobilizers
