JOB PURPOSE:

Serve as a vital link in the on-going relationship between donors and members by picking up and delivering product and determining initial suitability of product before loading into truck.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Pick-up and deliver product to diverse locations and organizations.
  • Has the ability to communicate effectively
  • Maintain professional, positive donor relations at pick-up and delivery sites.
  • Drive straight trucks and other company designated vehicles.
  • Fork lift certification or ability to be certified with 10 days of hire
  • Load and unload trucks using power equipment (forklift, power hand jack, and pallet rider), includes unloading product to various warehouse locations upon return to FAEW dock.
  • Count and inspect product prior to loading and unloading.
  • Inspect condition of vehicle prior to operation and report needed repairs to Logistics Supervisor. Submit fuel receipts to Logistics Supervisor.
  • Comply with all safety policies and procedures as well as all DOT and all traffic regulations.
  • Ensure all company vehicles are secured at the end of the day.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Commitment to understand and support FAEW’s mission, vision, and effective actions to end food insecurity and its causes
  • Respect for the people FAEW serves 
  • Valid Class B CDL license for vehicles greater than 26,000 lbs. with air brakes. Excellent Motor Vehicle Record and successful DOT physical and drug screen.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to remain professional under difficult circumstances.
  • Strong math aptitude and ability to complete trucking paperwork such as bill-of-lading manifest, etc.
  • Solid knowledge of city, county and state road system.
  • Complete understanding of FAEW’s safety policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate the ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be open-minded of differing opinions and views.
