Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin is the largest hunger-relief organization in the state. Our mission is to solve hunger. Last year we distributed more than 53 million pounds of healthy, nutritious food to our members who are food pantries, meal programs, and shelters throughout 35 counties in eastern Wisconsin.


To grow and maintain a sustainable volunteer program by providing an exceptional on-site experience for all volunteers.


  • Lead multiple shifts of volunteer groups daily, averaging 25 people, throughout the entire experience from sign in and orientation, providing tours, answering questions during volunteer activities, and stewardship after the fact, such as taking photos of the groups after their activity, thanking them and debriefing the group in order to improve the experience for future volunteers.
  • Act as quality control specialist to ensure that product sorted and made available to members is up to organization standards.
  • Determine appropriate volunteer activities for incoming volunteers and volunteer groups.
  • Support communication with Operations team regarding volunteer activities.
  • Ensure the volunteer areas are clean and organized.
  • Understand CERVIS online volunteer management system.
  • Ensure safe environment for volunteers.
  • Frequent lifting up to 60 lbs. Use warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks, fork lift, carts, etc. to move around 700 lbs.
  • Maintain inventory of volunteer program supplies.
  • Assist in the identification and development of Skills Based Volunteers.
  • Support recruitment, coordination, and stewardship activities, as necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of two-years experience in customer service related field; service as a volunteer desirable.
  • Strong interpersonal skillset and ability to quickly connect and build positive relationships with volunteers and coworkers.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to collaborate across departments and work within a team setting.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to represent the organization.
  • Working knowledge in Microsoft Office.
  • Professional presentation and phone/email etiquette.
  • Ability to excel in an atmosphere of continuous change and improvement.
  • Become forklift certified within 90 days of hire
  • Demonstrate the ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be open-minded of differing opinions and views.
  • The flexibility to work evenings and weekends when needed. Opportunity for some overtime.
  • Valid Driver’s license, proof of insurance and transportation to support work activities.
