Position: Family Resource Center (FRC) Director

Hours: Full time (40 hrs/week)

Salary Range: $70,000-$75,000 depending upon education, experience and certifications

First 5 Fox Valley (F5FV) is seeking a Family Resource Center (FRC) Director with a focus on operations and community engagement, to join a team of people dedicated to improving the lives of children living in our community.  Seeking applicants with a heart for mission driven work at a community-based non-profit organization that is innovative, growing and awarded grants totaling over $4 million in the past few years.

Job Summary:  F5FV recently purchased a historic building in the heart of downtown Appleton and is creating a FRC which will provide support and wrap-around services to families in the Fox Valley. The Director of the Family Resource Center (FRC) will provide strategic leadership and operational oversight to support families in the community, ensuring services are inclusive, culturally responsive, and aligned with community needs. The FRC Director will oversee the building design and renovations, ensure the certification of the FRC and staff, manage the operations of the FRC once it is opened to the public for service and lead community engagement efforts to support the long-term vision and mission.  The FRC Director will work collaboratively with the Executive Director and Board of Directors to provide oversight of the FRC to the organization and grant partners. The FRC Director will be based in the Kimberly, WI office of First 5 Fox Valley and work primarily in the office with the ability to have a flexible work schedule with approval.  After the completion of the new FRC, the location of the office will be in downtown Appleton. F5FV is seeking a person who is compassionate and a visionary leader with strong communication skills and a commitment to family-centered practices.

Family Resource Center Director Functions & Responsibilities:

Phase 1: Development (Fall 2025 – Summer 2026)

  • Collaborate with the Executive Director on grant writing, capital campaign efforts, and donor engagement.
  • Finalize the FRC’s governance structure and decision-making framework.
  • Oversee building design, renovation, and preparation for opening.
  • Participate in FRC-specific trainings and certification programs.
  • Co-lead steering committee and workgroup meetings, including agenda setting.
  • Ensure all accreditation and certification requirements are met for both the organization and individual staff.
  • Create a community engagement plan of action and implement the activities to increase awareness of F5FV and the FRC within the community.

Phase 2: Operations (Beginning Summer 2026)

         Leadership & Governance

  • Serve as co-director alongside the Programs & Partnerships Director.
  • Develop and implement a long-term strategic plan.
  • Ensure mission alignment and coordinate organizational structure and reporting.
  • Lead evaluation efforts and data collection planning.
  • Establish and maintain internal policies and procedures.

         Grants & Financial Oversight

  • Research, write, and manage grants in collaboration with the Executive Director.
  • Prepare and oversee the annual budget.
  • Manage financial operations including bookkeeping, payroll, billing, and taxes.

         Marketing & Outreach

  • Create and implement a marketing and branding strategy.
  • Lead outreach efforts to engage families and community partners.

Community Engagement

  • Represent the FRC in statewide and local early childhood initiatives.
  • Serve as a public ambassador for the FRC and its mission.

         Facilities Management

  • Oversee building operations, maintenance, and property management.

Prior Experience:

  • Proven leadership experience in nonprofit, early childhood, or family services sectors.
  • Demonstrated affinity and ability to work with a culturally, linguistically, and politically diverse community, with a commitment to equity, inclusion, and family-centered practices.
  • Strong background in program development, fundraising, and organizational management.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and community engagement skills.
  • Proven ability to develop marketing materials, managing social media, and executing outreach strategies.
  • Experience with grant writing and financial oversight.
  • Experience overseeing facilities design, renovation, and management (preferred)
  • Ability to manage complex projects and lead through change.

  • Knowledge of local family resources (Fox Valley/Outagamie County preferred)
  • Must reside in service area and work on-site
  • Background check required
