General Summary
The Fund and Development Manager leads FRIENDS, Inc.’s fundraising and donor engagement strategy to ensure the organization’s long-term financial sustainability. This position designs, implements, and evaluates initiatives that strengthen and expand revenue through grants, individual giving, corporate sponsorships, community partnerships, and strategic donor cultivation.
The position also supports the ongoing development of organizational systems by helping streamline agency policies, documents, and internal processes, and plays a key role in building and maintaining strong community relationships.
This position is designed to grow into a long-term leadership role and will work closely with the Executive Director to develop the strategic, operational, and community-based competencies necessary for future succession planning.
Salary: $55,000-$60,000
Standard shift coverage is as follows, however, these hours may fluctuate as needed:
Monday: 8:00AM – 4:30PM
Tuesday: 8:00AM – 4:30PM
Wednesday: 8:00AM – 4:30PM
Thursday: 8:00AM – 4:30PM
Friday: 8:00AM – 4:30PM
Weekends: As Needed – Events
Later Hours: As Needed – Events
Essential Functions:
Fund Development & Donor Relations
- Build and manage relationships with individual, corporate, foundation, church, and community donors.
- Conduct at least 10+ donor or prospect meetings per month (in-person or virtual).
- Develop compelling donor materials appeals, proposals, presentations, and stewardship reports.
- Track all donations in DonorView and create and distribute thank yous to all donors
- Partner with the Executive Director to identify funding priorities and track progress toward annual revenue goals.
- Create and execute donor recognition and stewardship strategies to strengthen long-term engagement.
- Maintain accurate, detailed documentation of all fund development activities including donor attempts, interactions, and opportunities by developing and managing a moves-management tracking system (prospecting → cultivation → solicitation → stewardship).
- Lead an annual fundraising plan that includes major gifts, monthly giving, corporate partnerships, and targeted campaigns.
Grants & Foundation Support
- Research, identify, and secure grant funding opportunities from federal, state, private, and corporate sources.
- In collaboration with the Executive Director, complete the full grants process: writing, submission, tracking, reporting, and ensuring compliance.
- Maintain relationships with foundation representatives and proactively identify new opportunities.
- Responsible for accurately logging, tracking, and maintaining all grant applications and opportunities to ensure organizational accountability and data integrity.
- Assist in preparing reports, data, and summaries for Board meetings, audits, and grantor requests as needed.
- Develop and manage a year-round grant pipeline, ensuring consistent revenue growth and diversification.
- Monitor success rates and implement strategies to increase competitiveness and long-term sustainability.
Events & Community Engagement
- Partner with the Outreach Specialist to plan and execute fundraising and community events, (e.g., Steps Against Sexual Assault 5K, awareness events, and other fundraisers).
- Lead sponsorship solicitation and procurement of in-kind donations and auction items.
- Support event marketing, including creation of promotional materials, digital campaigns, and press releases.
- Support day-of event logistics
- Act as a key attendee at all FRIENDS, Inc. events and opportunities
Marketing, Storytelling & Communications
- Translate program outcomes and services into compelling, mission-driven narratives that inspire giving by collaborating with advocates and program staff to gather survivor-centered, trauma-informed stories that demonstrate impact while maintaining confidentiality.
- Support donor and community communications, including newsletters, annual reports, social media, and appeals.
- Manage a marketing calendar that integrates email, print, and social content with fundraising campaigns.
- Ensure consistent brand and messaging alignment across all outreach materials.
- Serve as a public-facing storyteller capable of confidently presenting FRIENDS, Inc. impact to donors, funders, and community groups.
Partnerships & External Relations
- Cultivate mission-aligned partnerships with local businesses, civic groups, churches, and community organizations to expand FRIENDS’ visibility, donor base, and community support.
- Serve as a knowledgeable, mission-fluent spokesperson by attending and occasionally speaking at community events, check presentations, and networking opportunities.
- Facilitate community tours and presentations to educate partners about FRIENDS, Inc.’ services and impact.
- Serve as liaison with venues, vendors, and community partners to coordinate external engagement and event-related activities.
- Develop and implement a strategic community engagement plan that broadens FRIENDS’ donor base and strengthens long-term partnerships.
Organizational Development & Systems Support
- Collaborate with the Executive Director to streamline internal documents, policies, and procedures for clarity, consistency, and alignment.
- Support development of infrastructure and written materials that strengthen agency operations, grant readiness, and long-term sustainability.
- Help create standardized templates, systems, and processes that improve efficiency and reduce administrative burden across the organization.
Leadership Development & Succession Readiness
- Participate in high-level strategic discussions, gaining exposure to budgeting, board relations, grant compliance, community collaborations, and organizational planning.
- Develop a deep understanding of FRIENDS, Inc.’ programs, service delivery, and advocacy model.
- Work closely with the Executive Director to build leadership competencies.
- Demonstrate ability to represent FRIENDS, Inc. publicly with professionalism, mission fluency, and confidence.
- Supervise and support administrative internship opportunities
Hotline & Client Support:
- While this role’s primary focus is fund development and community engagement, all FRIENDS, Inc. staff are trained in answering FRIENDS, Inc.’s 24/7 crisis hotline and expected to support.
- This position will not provide one-on-one advocacy or case management, but may occasionally assist with practical support tasks such as:
- Delivering items (e.g., taxi vouchers, hygiene products, or donations) to the shelter client.
- Helping ensure client needs are met during emergencies when other staff are unavailable.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
