HeartLove Place is a nonprofit Christian ministry dedicated to serving families.  Located in the Harambee community of Milwaukee, HeartLove has been a part of the community since 1989 with grassroots programming that worked side by side with community residents and other ministry partners. HeartLove Place serves approximately 6,000 families a year through our programs and services.

Mission: With a heart of love; teach, encourage and support families through programs and services centered in Christian values.

Position SummaryThe Youth & Family Program Leader will work in a team approach with the entire HeartLove Place staff in the delivery of youth and family programs. This individual will help create a healthy and safe environment for youth programs geared for youth ages (12-17) and their families.  This will include but is not limited to supervising youth during all programs incorporating Christian values and principles.

Work Hours: Part-time 25 hours a week

Rate of pay: $15 – $20 per hour


  • At least 2 years of experience in youth work and community programming.
  • Associate degree in Education or Social Services is preferred.
  • Experience in Christian programming example: Sunday School Teacher, Bible Study etc., preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively; reading, writing and speaking.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Valid Wisconsin Drivers License

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Organize, implement, plan and lead various youth programs (gardening, art, camp, field trips etc.)
  • Mentor program participants
  • Prepare reports as required on program progress and outcomes
  • Market and recruit program participants
  • Assist with special events and community activities
  • Track attendance and participant progress
  • Submit required reports as needed
  • Pick up and drop off participants as needed
  • All other duties as assigned

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift a minimum of 45 pounds
  • Ability to use hands to fingers, handle or feel
  • Ability to kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, reach, pull and walk
  • Ability to visually assess safety concerns, neatness of the classroom or work area and other general observations
