Summary of Organization

The Hmong Wisconsin Chamber of Commerce (HWCC) is a statewide, Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) whose mission is to provide financial resources and technical assistance to business and community development activities that improve economic opportunities in low to moderate income and underserved communities. The primary focus is to provide economic development assistance in business planning, market analysis, marketing strategies, effective day-to-day business operations as well as financing. HWCC also acts as an advocate for underserved communities in Wisconsin regarding business and economic issues.

Summary of Position

The Regional Business Manager is self-motivated, adaptable, has a strong integrity and work ethic, is highly professional and productive with minimum supervision needed. This person has the ability to work patiently with clients from a variety of backgrounds and experiences as well as to maintain confidentiality of our clients. It is critical this person carries a sense of responsibility for HWCC’s success in this region by taking the initiative to network in the community and attend functions where HWCC’s potential clients may be present. The person in this position will work primarily in the greater Madison area but may be required to travel to neighboring communities as well as occasionally to other regions in Wisconsin to visit existing and potential business clients. Trips will be made to HWCC’s Milwaukee headquarters throughout the year for special events and programs as necessary.

Responsibilities

Technical Assistance: This position will consist of providing direct services to business clients (ex. entrepreneurs, business start-ups and current business owners looking to upscale their businesses, etc.) that may include assisting in business planning and financial projects, marketing and networking strategies, and other business development services.

Financial Assistance: This role also includes loan application support; presenting loan applications to the Loan Review Committee and preparing loan closing documents. Furthermore, it involves intaking inquiries, collecting client data, representing HWCC at various community events, planning and facilitating occasional webinars and in-person presentations, as well as assisting the HWCC Team with organizing HWCC programs and efforts as needed. Developing and maintaining strong relationships with potential and existing clients/members is critical to the success of the person in this role.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Must possess a valid state driver’s license and have access to a personal vehicle
  • Associates degree from an accredited institution with one (1) year min. of professional experience OR five (5) or more years in business-related field
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize and manage workload
  • Ability to be productive both independently and as a team
  • Strong integrity and work ethic
  • Community-driven; actively seeks opportunities to engage the community
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

Preferred:

  • Bilingual in Hmong
  • Basic knowledge of economic development and procurement
  • Has existing relationships with businesses and potential clients in the community
  • Higher education degree in business-related field

Compensation

Commensurate with experience. Medical, Dental, Vision, Life & Disability coverage available. Retirement plan (some employer contribution & matching) and paid time off.
