The Hope Council on Alcohol & Other Drug Abuse, Inc., Kenosha, is seeking a dedicated individual to join our team as an Assessor. This position is responsible for conducting Intoxicated Driver Program (IDP) assessments for individuals with substance-related impaired driving violations, as well as providing alcohol and other drug (AODA) assessments for clients referred from community sources. The Assessor prepares written summaries of findings and recommendations and engages clients using motivational interviewing strategies aligned with each client’s stage of change, ensuring timely referral and linkage to appropriate treatment or education services.

The qualified candidate must hold a SAC-IT or greater, or meet the definition of a professional as defined by Wisconsin DHS 61.06 (physician, psychologist, social worker, etc.). Experience performing AODA assessments is required. Bilingual (Spanish) candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.

Duties and Responsibilities of the job include:

  • Perform AODA assessments utilizing approved diagnostic instruments.
  • Develop, document, and report recommendations for treatment plans or Driver Safety Plans.
  • Provide drug screening and brief interventions as needed.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate case notes, reports, and IDP paperwork in compliance with program and state requirements.
  • Maintain professional AODA certification and DOT training requirements.
  • Develop and maintain cooperative relationships with treatment providers, public departments, and other agencies to support client needs.
  • Stay current with AODA assessment instruments and evidence-based treatment programs.

Position Details:

  • Part-time; 10–12 hours/week, 2 days per week, no evenings required, flexible but consistent schedule.
  • Pay is hourly ($21 – $24), based on experience and credentials.
  • Benefits include 401k, & paid vacation/sick time.
  • Length of employment is contingent upon available funding and job performance.
