Client Advocate Job Description

Passionate about helping the sexually exploited find hope and restoration? Are you a servant willing to do anything it takes to see a life changed? If so, then join our team as a Client Advocate! Inner Beauty Center exists to help the sexually exploited discover their value and purpose. We reach into the community meeting personal needs, building trusting relationships and walk alongside our clients through the recovery and restoration journey.

Inner Beauty Center is a faith-based non-profit public charity. Our team of Client Advocates provides supportive services to women exiting sexual exploitation and/or substance abuse. We coordinate and provide care that is safe, timely, effective, efficient, equitable, and client & Christ-centered. This is a part-time role – we expect that you would need to work 20 -30 hours per week to manage a case load plus hours for outreach and drop in twice a week. Outreach is conducted on Monday and Friday during various hours. The drop in is on Tuesday and Thursday from 4pm to 7pm.

The way our Client Advocates provide support is through the following responsibilities:

  • We meet people in their darkest moments. Occasionally this requires “on call” time, but most often, relationships and appointments are managed during daytime/early evening hours. You have control over your schedule, in agreement with the Executive Director and in order to meet the needs of the client.
  • Once the client is introduced, we complete intake and assessment processing forms, as appropriate. During the initial intake we explain the services we offer.
  • In many cases we will connect with necessary agencies in Milwaukee on behalf of the client. These can include access to shelters, restoration programs and other resources.
  • We assist with recovery of necessary papers and licenses (State ID, driver’s license, birth certificate, etc).
  • All of these activities are documented in a client chart in an organized fashion, in order to meet requirements for grants or government compliance.

In addition to the duties listed as a client advocate, we also help with job applications/job readiness, resume building and community service hours. Often, we’ll accompany our clients to court dates, AODA appointments, medical appointments, etc., based on availability. We have found the best team members to have a very flexible time schedule, great communication and listening skills, mental & emotional maturity, actively developing spiritual maturity, understanding, patience, problem-solving skills (particularly under pressure), and good command skills.

Are you ready to jump in and make a difference? Here’s what we’re looking for:

  • At the core, we are a faith-based organization and strive to help our clients find hope in Christ. We’ll discuss this more during our recruiting process but will request for you to provide professional AND pastoral references.
  • We prefer to see candidates with a high-school diploma, equivalent, or combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with the care of sexually exploited women, understanding of trauma-informed care, and/or life experience with human trafficking/substance abuse is preferred
  • Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record a must.
  • Experience with peer counseling is preferred

Pay: $15-$17 per hour

Benefits: Mileage allowance: $50.00 per month, Phone allowance: 50% of cell phone bill (capped), Two (2) weeks paid vacation after 90 days

Opportunity for advancement within the organization for the right person
