The Programs Coordinator is responsible for the coordination of Sawyer County’s programs which include Post-Charge Diversion, Recovery Court, and Law Enforcement Assisted/Pre-Booking Deflection programs. The Coordinator should have knowledge of the criminal justice system and the available behavioral health resources in the community. This position provides oversight of best practices in Deflection, Diversion, and Treatment Courts, as well as being well versed in the standards for each program type. This position requires relationship building and maintenance with Sawyer County stakeholders, including, but not limited to, Judges, District Attorney’s Office, defense attorneys, Courts, County Administration, and Lac Courte Oreilles Tribe. They will also work closely with local law enforcement, Case Managers, Alcohol and Substance Use Counselors, Mental Health Professionals, and Health and Human Services to enhance responses to mental health and substance use related calls for service.

The duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Track and manage program referrals
  • Provide ongoing assessments, treatment planning, case management guidance for team members, and crisis intervention
  • Set staffing and meeting agendas including the creation of reports for the treatment court team
  • Apply and enforce recovery court policies and procedures through TAD best practice standards
  • Communicate regularly with participants, their employers, families, the courts, and treatment providers
  • Refer to & have knowledge of available community resources
  • Provide quality assurance of case notes, client services, and court reports
  • Ensure appropriate recording of data and reporting out of data via Tyler and CORE
  • Complete screenings and/or assessments to determine needs and level of services recommended
  • Collaborate and coordinate participant services, including transportation as needed, with Peer Systems Navigators
  • Provide educational resources to participants, community, and law enforcement regarding individuals who live with substance abuse disorder and/or a person in a mental health crisis
  • Manage/coordinate Peer Systems Navigators as part of Coordinated Response Team
  • Conduct follow-up reviews of participants unable to meet the conditions of the Sawyer County Treatment Court
  • Coordinating trainings for case managers, navigators, and program stakeholders.
  • Providing training and oversight of Recovery Court and Diversion case managers, and Deflection Navigators.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a certified college or university in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, or other closely related behavioral science field preferred
  • Must possess valid WI driver’s license and proof of insurance
  • Knowledge of various Sawyer County recovery, behavioral health, and public benefits programs
  • Basic office and computer skills required, including use of Microsoft Office and ability to utilize databases
  • Preferred experience in facilitation of curriculum-based group programming
  • Knowledge of crisis intervention
  • Working knowledge of Wisconsin Statutes and local laws pertaining to mental health, chemical abuse, and homelessness
  • Leadership experience preferred
