Compensation
Kathy’s House offers: competitive pay of $25/hour, Generous Medical, Dental, and Vision Plan, Paid Time Off, an EAP program, and a Simple IRA plan (up to 3% match).
Job Summary
The Manager of Volunteer Services is responsible for all aspects of Kathy’s House Volunteers and a key team member of the Guest Services programs. Responsibilities include continued volunteer cultivation, engagement, development and refinement of volunteer roles, new volunteer recruitment, retention, and recognition. Provides enhanced stewardship of current and past volunteers; coordination of in-house events and special projects as assigned. Assists Guest Services with referral processing, guest check-in and guest check-out, and responding to guest inquiries.
Qualifications
- 2-3 years of volunteer management or other relevant experience
- Physical ability to sit, stand, bend, walk, lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- A valid Wisconsin driver’s license.
- High school diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

Responsibilities
- Research, develop and implement new and innovative ways to recruit and engage volunteer candidates.
- Select, orient, and train new volunteers.
- Schedule, assign, coordinate, supervise and appropriately recognize all volunteers.
- Ensure a sufficient number of volunteers are available to meet the diverse internal and external hospitality, project and event-based needs of Kathy’s House.
- Develop and maintain a volunteer database and performance evaluation system for volunteers and volunteer program. Keep appropriate records of volunteer functions and hours for timely statistical reporting.
- Develop and implement a strategic plan to steward and recognize all volunteers on a regular basis. This plan will include but is not limited to; writing timely personal acknowledgment letters, thank you cards, and recognition of birthdays, anniversaries and other special life events, as well as implementing the yearly volunteer appreciation event.
- Create and execute community outreach presentations for the purposes of volunteer recruitment.
- Provide content for internal and external communications including but not limited to newsletters, annual report, and Kathy’s House social media as needed.
- As part of the Guest Services team, this role will work within the program with daily and on-going duties such as guest intake, house tours and serve as the first-line back up as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned. Effectively manage workload and demonstrate ability to focus on established priorities.
