Position Summary:

The Accountant will apply the principles of accounting to prepare, compile, monitor, and analyze the daily financial and accounting activities of Lead2Change. This position is responsible for balancing & reconciling transactions, journal entries, bank statements, and general ledger accounts. This position will also assist with the monthly payroll, close and reporting process, tax preparation, annual audits, and special projects. The Accountant is responsible for championing the accounts receivable and payable process, including resolving any transactions and payment discrepancies or issues.  The Accountant will also actively assess opportunities to enhance the efficiency and transparency of Lead2Change’s accounting and financial operations, including system-based improvements and procedural updates. The position is expected to work 5 -10 hours per week.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Enter monthly receipts, expenditures accounts receivable, and accounts payables in the QuickBooks online accounting software to include any organizations fiscally responsible for.
  • Post monthly credit card transactions into QuickBooks online accounting software.
  • Review monthly transactions assure accuracy, the sufficiency of documentation/support/receipts, and adherence to approvals for purchase orders/purchase requisitions, invoices, check requests, purchase card transactions, and payroll allocations.
  • Reconcile monthly bank statements and credit card statements to the general ledger system.
  • Process monthly payroll for staff and contractors.
  • Prepare monthly reports for external vendors for reimbursements of funds.
  • Produce monthly and year-end financial statements for review by senior management and the board of directors.
  • Enter the approved budget into QuickBooks online accounting software.
  • Prepare and file sales and use tax returns.
  • Process and file W2’s and 1099’s
  • Support Fund Development Coordinator with financial data needed to obtain and track grants.
  • Assemble all required documentation for the annual audit, such as the grant awards and audits by award agencies or fiscal agents.
  • Prepare and make bank entries and deposits at the organization’s bank.

Qualifications:

  • An Associate in Accounting is required. Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
  • Prior experience in accounting and/or finance, preferably in a non-profit or social services field.
  • Prior experience using accounting software; QuickBooks experience is a plus.

  • Advanced Level in Microsoft Office suite applications, particularly Excel.

Compensation:

  • This is a non-exempt role with a pay range of $24 – $27/hour, depending on qualifications.
