Job Summary:  Legal Aid Society’s Housing Team has an opening for a Full-time Resource Liaison at our Downtown campus. The Eviction Free MKE housing team focuses on preserving affordable housing for qualifying Milwaukee county residents by representing tenants in eviction proceedings. The ideal candidate will possess the drive and diligence to connect our clients to critical community resources as part of an energized team working to change the landscape of evictions in Milwaukee. The Resource Liaison will collaborate closely with housing attorneys, paralegals, and other advocates to advance related wraparound services for tenant households. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Work with Eviction Free MKE Housing Attorneys and Paralegals to provide case support
  • Provide case management support to individuals and families at risk of eviction and displacement;
  • Provide crisis intervention and referrals to appropriate services to address immediate client needs;
  • Research, develop and maintain community resource library;
  • Establish collaborative relationships with other community based organizations around advocacy, education and resource development;
  • Attend weekly Housing meetings and community organization meetings as required;
  • Other duties as assigned.

 Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and progressive experience that demonstrates a strong skill set in dealing with the public;
  • Resourceful, unflappable approach to working with people in crisis;
  • Passion for social justice and a commitment to working with low-income communities and communities of color to advance equity;
  • Excellent communication skills — verbal and written;
  • Strong computer skills;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Passage of  Criminal Background Check;
  • COVID-19 vaccination.
