About Us

Milwaukee Diaper Mission launched in 2020 as Milwaukee’s first basic needs bank. Our mission is to empower families in need by providing a reliable source of free diapers and period supplies. We work with local social service agencies to provide free basic essentials to low-income families while raising awareness of the public health crises known as Diaper Need and Period Poverty.

Work Environment

We work in a bright and cheery office/warehouse environment where everyone belongs. While we serve the City of Milwaukee, our facility is currently located in Franklin, WI. Position Descripton

Milwaukee Diaper Mission is seeking an outgoing, reliable and highly organized person to lead MDM to meet fundraising goals through annual appeals, grants, events and donor retention activities. In this position, you will contribute by assisting the Executive Director with all fundraising and donor management activities.

Duties & Responsibilities

Donor Life Cycle Management

  • Manage gift processing such as donation entry, pledge reminders, and timely acknowledgements
  • Maintain updated list of major donors and manage process for major donor communications
  • Manage existing fundraising appeals, such as annual fund and donor renewals
  • Manage sponsorships by assisting the Executive Director with stewarding current sponsors and engaging and tracking new sponsorship prospects
  • Support the Executive Director in preparing for donor meetings/establishing major donor touchpoints and solicitation efforts in order to maintain current relationships 

Grants Management

  • Formalize and manage an annual grants calendar organized by deadline
  • Seek new sources of corporate and foundation support
  • Compose grant narrative language and submit grants, adhering to deadlines
  • Manage and submit grant reporting

Development Operations & Communications

  • Work with the Executive Director to formalize MDM’s annual development calendar and take long term ownership of expansion
  • Produce regular revenue reports – creating and tracking progress of revenue goals
  • Assist with establishing annual fundraising goals and create processes to track progress
  • Assist with establishing and tracking key metrics of development efforts – retention/churn rates, total number of donors, success of annual appeals, etc.
  • Manage processes in CRM, ensuring communications are up to date and relevant
  • Work with the Executive Director to strategize new fundraising opportunities 
  • Write regular email communications and social media content with a fundraising focus
  • Assist the Executive Director with supporting board members in fundraising activities
  • Prepare and present fundraising KPIs to MDM Board of Directors on a regular basis
  • Assist with planning and execution of major fundraising events throughout the year

Desired Experience & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional work experience
  • Proven experience in nonprofit fundraising, such as familiarity with development language, data entry and database management, event planning and execution, donor life cycle management
  • Self-starter with strong analytic skills and a strategic thinker, open to different perspectives and new ways of doing things
  • Ability to work effectively and creatively with a team as well as independently
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate and work toward solutions with a diverse group of colleagues, donors, board members, community partners, and other stakeholders
  • Ability to give and receive feedback and constructive criticism
  • Can lift, carry, push, and pull up to 30 pounds and stand or walk for extended periods of time
  • Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license and ability and willingness to travel within Milwaukee County
  • Belief in a mutual aid based service model, and a philosophy of service founded in dignity not charity

Salary & Benefits

Full Time: 40 hours/week (2,080 hours/year)

Compensation: Competitive pay based on applicant’s level of experience

Classification: Hourly, non-exempt

Insurance Benefits: Individual Coverage HRA

Additional Benefits: PTO/Sick Days/Paid Holidays/Flexible Work Schedule (including option to work remotely)
