Natural Sciences Faculty (Full-Time)

The Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design (MIAD) is seeking to hire a full‐time faculty member at the assistant or associate level to teach Natural Sciences courses in Liberal Studies. We are looking for a curious, engaged, and motivated educator who will add strength to this dynamic program and contribute to an exceptional academic experience for MIAD students. Applicants must have a broad understanding of Natural Sciences including, but not limited to, Biology, Ecology, and Environmental Sciences. The ideal candidate will have experience developing curricula that prepare students to become critical thinkers and citizens engaged with the natural environment. Teaching at MIAD is student-centered and requires commitment to working closely with undergraduate art and design students in our degree programs, integrating studio learning, research, writing, and critical discourse.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Master’s degree required in a field of Natural Sciences. Doctoral degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 years of teaching Natural Sciences at the college level is required.
  • Documented experience with course development and curriculum review
  • Evidence of leadership in academic and professional
  • Excellent listening, verbal, writing and organizational

Preference may be given to candidates with expertise in one or more of the following areas:

  • Ecology
  • Environmental Sciences
  • Field Research

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Teach 18 credits annually (9credit load in the fall semester ; 9 credits in the spring semester)
  • Work collaboratively with Natural Sciences and college faculty to write and refine
  • Teach a variety of Natural Sciences
  • Serve as an academic advisor and committee work as assigned.
  • Serve as an invested member in the MIAD community, the life of the department, our students, campus, and broader Milwaukee
  • Teach in-person courses as assigned.
