The Milwaukee Public Museum (MPM) is hiring for a full-time preferably, bilingual (Spanish) Early Childhood Museum Educator that will work to develop, deliver, and evaluate Spanish programming specifically facilitated for early learners as well as supports a talented team of Educators in the implementation of other Education department events and programs that are in alignment with the mission of MPM, which is to inspire curiosity, excite minds, and increase desire to preserve and protect our world’s natural and cultural diversity through exhibitions, educational programming, collections and research.
In this role you will:
- Develop, present, and evaluate all programming for early learners in English and Spanish.
- Develop and present workshops and training sessions for teachers.
- Communicate with external and internal stakeholders about early childhood program offerings and resources, as well as other department programming.
- Assist in the administration of grant development, securing participant feedback for ongoing evaluation, and maintaining supply inventory.
- Act as part of the larger Education Department team, assisting your colleagues with other educational programs as needed as well as providing training for staff and docents on the use of age-appropriate teaching techniques.
You will be successful in this role if you:
- Preferably are bilingual in English and Spanish, including the ability to read in both languages.
- *This position is eligible for an extra $1.00 per hour compensation upon successful passing of a Spanish language test*
- Possess an Associates Degree or higher in early childhood education
- Have 2-5 years demonstrated experience as an early childhood Educator
- Would be proud to represent MPM at both museum industry and other professional conferences as it relates to your work.
- Are excited at the idea of bringing your experience applying culturally responsive frameworks to program development and instruction to this work.
- Thrive at presenting information, responding to questions, and working with a diverse audience of people as well as feel confident in representing MPM with respect to community partners, families, teachers, and the general public.
Additional Requirements:
- Valid driver’s license that meet’s MPM’s driving policy requirements
- Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes weekends and evenings along with occasional overnight travel.
Compensation: $18.50-19.50/hour
