WOMEN’S SHELTER SHIFT MANAGER
Joy House – Milwaukee Rescue Mission Division for Women & Children. The women and children who come to us for emergency or long-term support rely on the safety, love and warmth of Joy House and its many services. We nourish and nurture them through training, education and spiritual guidance so they can make better lives for themselves and for their kids.
Joy House is seeking a Christian woman to fill a 2nd Shift Manager position. The 2nd Shift Manager provides over-sight of Joy House programs, staff, and guests and assists the Director in leadership and program development.
WORK SCHEDULE: Full-time, 2nd Shift, 3:00pm-11:00pm
LOCATION: Central Campus, 830 N 19th Street, Milwaukee, WI. 53233
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Directly train and supervise shift staff
- Responsible for Joy House facilities, paperwork, statistics, reports, supplies, and inventories for assigned shift
- Administer guest programs for assigned shift
- Ensure that the Gospel has been clearly modeled, presented to and understood by every Joy House guest/family member
- Interact with and offer direction to volunteers and non-departmental MRM staff assisting in Joy House when necessary
- Ensure that shift routine is smooth and orderly by maintaining shift schedules and expectations
- Attend to Joy House staff needs
- Identify and correct any operational problems for assigned shift
- Provide crisis intervention, case management and advocacy services to Joy House guests when appropriate
- Maintain complete file records and case notes of all assigned guests, including proof of residency forms and forms to access resources, if applicable
- Manage check-in procedures for all existing and new guests
- Oversee intake process for new Joy House guests
- In cooperation with other Shift Managers and Case Workers, develop and maintain a comprehensive resource file of all community resources that may be of help to Joy House guests
- Help maintain the electronic Joy House log by documenting shift events
- Help identify and report any security or maintenance concerns
- Ensure shifts are covered with appropriate staff and schedules are completed in advance
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Mature Christian woman with a servant’s heart who is able to relate well with others in a diverse population
- Bachelor’s Degree strongly preferred
- 3-5 years’ experience in a supervisory role and/or experience in social service work
- Experience working with clients who have physical, emotional and educational barriers
- Culturally competent and relational with excellent leadership, interpersonal, communication and motivational skills
- Detail orientated with excellent organization and follow-through skills
- Ability to deal with difficult interactions. Strong conflict resolution skills. Able to defuse potentially volatile situations with patience and tact
- Work well under pressure and manage stress effectively in a demanding and fast paced environment
- Ability and willingness to carry out instructions with speed and precision
- A dedicated, flexible, team player
- Computer literacy; competent working with database software and MS Office applications: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Have a genuine concern for the salvation and spiritual welfare for all those encountered though the ministry of MRM, seeking to model and share the hope of the gospel within the established responsibilities for this position

- Be in agreement with and subscribe to the MRM Statement of Faith and the MRM Statement of Biblical Convictions
- Be a committed follower of the Lord Jesus Christ, which is evident in personal testimony and Christian conduct
