Job Title: MYAC Operations Associate

Status: Full-time, non-exempt – flexible scheduling with nights and regular weekends required based on programming schedule
Compensation: $36,000 – $42,000 annually, plus a benefit package including health/dental/vision, PTO, paid holidays, and 403(b).
Organizational Overview
The Milwaukee Youth Arts Center (MYAC) is a destination for creativity, collaboration, and community building. Opened in 2005 and founded as an active partnership with First Stage and Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra, MYAC delivers high quality spaces and inclusive experiences for young people, artists, and community leaders throughout Wisconsin. Across two buildings at the intersection of Milwaukee’s Bronzeville, Historic MLK Drive, and Schlitz Park neighborhoods – MYAC’s spaces include a studio theater, six performance and rehearsal halls, fifteen classrooms, eight small group instruction studios, and a variety of commons and community gathering spaces.
Position Overview
The MYAC Operations Associate will serve as a daily primary collaborator and facilitator for delivering MYAC programs and events, and leader in facility management, routine upkeep, and hospitality. An active participant in daily operations, the Operations Associate will fulfill the needs of rooms, spaces, and experiences in service to the daily schedule and programs. The Operations Associate will work across departments and partner with MYAC Hospitality team members to anticipate and respond to emerging technical, set-up, or operational needs.
Essential Responsibilities
Operations (75-80%):
- Provide daily service in setting up, checking in, and resetting MYAC spaces for program use
- Oversee daily operations at MYAC facilities: HVAC, security, safety platforms, electrical, plumbing, and specialty services (lighting, sound, stage)
- Serve as primary operational resource for onsite guests, students, staff, rental partners, and vendors
- Perform routine facility maintenance as related essential building functions, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, janitorial, and security
- Participate in all aspects of the conversion process for events including but not limited to setup and tear down of all event/productions, as well as numerous assignments required by the event
- Loading and unloading trucks
- When required, provide light, sound, and video support during shows/events for qualified personnel
- Move furniture, road cases, miscellaneous equipment
- Duties may include setting up and tearing down flooring, portable chairs, barricades, staging, tables, and other furnishings and equipment
- Provide direct technology support and work alongside contracted vendors to deliver high quality technical service
- Occasional custodial support including but not limited to stocking paper goods and restroom cleanliness checks
- Serve as manager on duty for select shifts and programs
- Directly participate in daily opening, closing, and reset procedures
- Support and participate in room set-ups, services, and emergent needs
- Consistently demonstrate and deliver MYAC’s Culture of Hospitality expectations
Hospitality (20-25%):
- Staff the MYAC front desk a minimum of 5-10 hours per week as a Host
- Provide active concierge services for guests, visiting organizations, and rental partners
- Take responsibility for secure lockup of the building when scheduled
- Basic office admin such as separate mail, answering the main line telephone to direct calls, and building schedule management
- Upholding MYAC’s access control and visitor management procedures
Qualification & Experience
- Interest, comfort, or experience in working in community, arts, or youth-centered spaces
- One year of hospitality, service, facility, or administrative experience
- Significant experience in either the area of building maintenance and/or management, or event production, coupled with willingness to learn about the other area(s)
- Experience or comfort with reservation systems, security platforms, and Microsoft office suite
- Self-starter with a demonstrated strong work ethic
- Must possess excellent project management skills with the ability to prioritize and problem solve
- Aptitude to work in a cross-functional organization. Taking direction across departmental lines in a collaborative environment
- Effective written, verbal, and visual communication skills. Motivated by change, growth, and the unknown
