The Muslim Women’s Coalition (formerly the Milwaukee Muslim Women’s Coalition) seeks a full-time Youth Development Director! The Youth Development Director develops, organizes, and implements high-quality MWC programs. These culturally specific programs include summer leadership and empowerment programs, after-school youth nights, the Afghan “Be a Buddy” program, high school affinity groups, and other MWC or partnership programs. Approximately 30% of programming is off-site. The Youth Development Director ensures focus on programming that promotes self-reflection, civic engagement, and youth development.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage programming including facilitating workshops, events, and trips with keen cultural understanding and sensitivity.
  • Provide training and development around life skills such as goal setting, leadership, etc.
  • Seek out and cultivate new partnerships with relevant community organizations and representatives.
  • Manage evaluation, assessment, and reporting processes for the MWC program.
  • Coordinate with project partners, mentors, and all other key stakeholders.
  • Oversee the effective implementation of programs, services, and activities and ensure programs are intentionally striving toward desired outcomes.
  • Manage and supervise program and volunteer staff, such as interpreters, ESL, sports, volunteers and art teachers.
  • Work with the Executive Director to collaborate with other youth-serving organizations and other partners.
  • Provide quality program activities that are inclusive, welcoming, respectful, and responsive to the diversity of members, families, and community.
  • Provide leadership for effective volunteer recruitment, engagement, development, and management.
  • Assure files are current and complete.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree in education, youth development or other related field.
  • At least two (2) years of curriculum development experience not gained as part of a degree-granting program.
  • Two to three (2-3) years of related experience in youth development or other related fields.
  • Islamic Cultural knowledge and sensitivity.
  • An innovative thinker and a creative problem solver.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with a wide range of individuals.
  • Organized, strong planning skills and attention to details, with a professional and friendly demeanor.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively on a team.
  • Ability to supervise and direct personnel toward meeting organization and program goals.
  • Ability to effectively manage several projects simultaneously.
  • Assumes personal responsibility for all outcomes.

Desired Skills

  • Volunteer management experience
  • Understanding of grant compliance requirements.
