Nia Imani Family, Inc. is a Milwaukee-based nonprofit that provides transitional housing and holistic support for young women ages 18–25 and their children. Job Summary 

The Family Services Coordinator focuses on individualized support and structured goal planning for participants. This role emphasizes intake, assessments, goal development, referrals, and crisis intervention to ensure each young woman has a clear pathway toward stability and independence. 

Duties 

  • Conduct intake and needs assessments for all new participants. 
  • Develop and monitor individualized case plans with goals for housing, education, employment, and parenting. 
  • Facilitate one-on-one sessions and small coaching circles focused on life skills and emotional regulation. 
  • Provide crisis intervention and connect participants to external resources (mental health, legal, financial assistance, etc.). 
  • Maintain case documentation and participant progress notes in a timely manner. 
  • Advocate on behalf of participants with external service providers. 
  • Collect and analyze data for program evaluation and compliance reporting. 
  • Lead conversations on long-term stability planning (career, education, housing). 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities 

  • Strong interviewing, assessment, and case planning skills. 
  • Ability to track, evaluate, and adjust participant progress toward goals. 
  • Excellent written documentation and record-keeping skills for compliance and reporting. 
  • Knowledge of community resources and referral systems. 
  • Ability to provide counseling and crisis intervention with professionalism and empathy. 
  • Skilled at motivating participants to commit to long-term goals. 
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple caseloads. 
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care and its application in case planning. 

Focus Area: Strategic case planning and goal achievement 

Requirements 

  • Must pass a background check and drug test. 
  • Must be physically able to climb and descend up to three flights of stairs multiple times daily and lift 25 lbs. as needed. 
  • Minimum of an associate’s degree in human services, Social Work, Early Childhood Education, or a related field; bachelor’s degree preferred from an accredited college or university.  
  • Two or more years of relevant experience working with young adults, families, or children. 
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. 
  • Commitment to trauma-informed care and culturally competent practice. 
  • Proficiency with computers and basic office software (Microsoft Office, email, data entry systems). 
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation preferred.
