GENERAL FUNCTIONS:

Radio Milwaukee’s Community Engagement Coordinator will strive to build relationships with organizations, community partners and leaders to support the reach, awareness and mission of Radio Milwaukee. The Community Engagement Coordinator is responsible for working with all departments to implement strategies that mobilize people to participate in Radio Milwaukee, advocate for Radio Milwaukee, and amplify their engagement through additional opportunities (i.e. volunteering, membership, etc.).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with organizations to grow awareness of and engagement with Radio Milwaukee; examples of how these relationships may manifest include content story leads, co-programmed or sponsored events, PSAs, etc
  • Program public events centered around Radio Milwaukee mission, programming or content
    • Events will be scheduled and concepted in advance for maximum sponsorship revenue potential, events could also have a ticket price for revenue potential
    • Coordinator will work with Development team on sponsorship deck
  • Identify opportunities for Radio Milwaukee to co-program community events with organizations; organizations should have a shared mission with Radio Milwaukee and have an audience that Radio Milwaukee can grow in awareness
  • Create supplementary materials to further engage community around Radio Milwaukee programs and content (i.e. discussion guides, conversation clubs, panel events, etc)
  • Manage Community Engagement Resource Group
    • Deepens relationships with community engagement leaders throughout the city growing Radio Milwaukee’s brand and ability reach these organizations’ audience
  • Grow and manage Radio Milwaukee’s volunteer program; manage current opportunities, primarily membership drives and summer marketing events
  • Manage tours of Radio Milwaukee building
  • Manage and be an on-site brand representative marketing events throughout the year, requiring occasional night and and weekend availability
  • In conjunction with marketing team, plan on-site execution that aligns with Radio Milwaukee brand and fulfills marketing objectives

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong understanding of and passion for Radio Milwaukee’s brand and mission
  • Demonstrated ability to build and sustain partner relationships
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Proven experience planning and executing community-driven events
  • Strong understanding of the importance of engagement in non-profit audience journey
  • Strategic thinking skills to identify partnerships opportunities to grow Radio Milwaukee audience
  • Strong knowledge of and relationships with Milwaukee non-profit and community organizations

EDUCATION and or EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Preferred areas of study include non-profit management, social science, urban studies
  • Prior experience at non-profit organization strongly preferred
  • 3-5 years of experience working in community engagement or event-based roles
