Engagement Coordinator Job Description

(Covering North Milwaukee, Ozaukee & Washington Counties)

Part-Time Position

Hours: 20–25 per week

Compensation: $21–$23 per hour

Vision

At the heart of Safe Families for Children (SFFC) is the belief that local churches and community organizations play a vital role in extending hospitality to families in crisis. Without their partnership, Safe Families cannot thrive. We also believe that broader community organizations are key in addressing the problem of social isolation.

The Engagement Coordinator role exists to ensure these partnerships grow and flourish. This position is crucial to the long-term health and sustainability of our mission.

Purpose

The Engagement Coordinator serves as a local connector and advocate, helping expand the Safe Families movement by building relationships with pastors, churches, and community leaders. The goal is to increase awareness, deepen trust, and grow volunteer engagement.

By leveraging personal connections and community credibility, this role bridges the gap between local leaders and Safe Families staff—ensuring new partnerships are developed and existing ones are strengthened.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Well-connected in North Milwaukee, Ozaukee, and Washington County
  • Consistently represents and advocates for Safe Families for Children in personal and professional settings
  • Self-motivated, reliable, and able to work independently
  • Strong relationship-builder with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Able to communicate the mission of Safe Families clearly and passionately
  • Skilled at networking and finding creative ways to connect with new pastors and organizations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Completed Family Coach or Host Family training for a deeper understanding of Safe Families’ programs
  • Strong existing connections within the local church community

Primary Responsibilities

  • Build relationships with pastors and community leaders to share the mission of Safe Families and invite partnership
  • Partner with Safe Families staff to identify and connect with new church and community contacts
  • Welcome and meet with pastors new to the area who are exploring ministry partnerships
  • Use established credibility to vouch for Safe Families’ trustworthiness in the community
  • Record progress and contacts weekly in the shared engagement tracker.

Additional Opportunities

  • Creatively share the Safe Families story through podcasts, blogs, luncheons, community events,  or other platforms
  • Relay common questions and concerns to Safe Families staff to strengthen trust and understanding
  • Maintain a clean and professional presence on social media
